Referring to the drawings, l indicates a cap of a pocket carried implement, such as a fountain pen, mechanical pencil, flashlight or the like. Said cap I0 is provided with two slots or apertures I2, M' spaced from each other at the distance a in the direction of the length of the cap.
It generally indicates a clip made of an integral body of spring material. The body of said clip comprises an elongate shank l8 having a bulbousgtip or the like at one of its ends and having an offset end portion 22 at its other end. Said offset end portion 22 includes a portion 24 bent away from the shank l8, folded back upon itself at 26 toward and under said shank l8 and bent again away from said shank at 28. Thus, a bend is formed in said oifset portion, said bend being disposed opposite the shank I 8 and the apex of said bend being adjacent said shank.
The distance b between the fold 26 and the free end 30 of the offset end portion 22 is larger than the distance a between the slots l2 and Id of the cap l0.
The clip I 6 may be attached securely to the cap III in the following manner: As shown in Fig. 2,

The extreme simplicity of the clip is apparent from inspection; the clip can readily be attached to the cap by hand; the attachment of the clip to the cap is very secure; the clip and the cap may be manufactured at low costs.
What .I claim is:
l. A clip for a pocket carried implement comprising: an integral body including an elongate shank and an ofiset end portion, said offset end portion comprising a portion bent away from said shank, folded closely back upon itself toward and under said shank and bent again away from said shank.
2. A clip for a pocket carried implement comprising: an integral body of spring material including an elongate shank and an offset end portion, said offset end portion comprising a portion bent away from said-shank, folded closely back upon itself toward and under said shank and bent again away from said shank.
3. In combination: a cap for a pocket carried implement, said cap having formed in the wall thereof two apertures spaced from each other in the direction of the length of the cap, and a clip having an integral body of spring material including an elongate shank, and an onset end portion, said offset end portion comprising a portion bent away from said shank, folded closely back upon itself toward and under said shank and bent again away from said shank, the folded portion and the free end of said offset end portion being inserted into said two apertures of said cap.

In combination: a cap for a pocket carried implement, said cap having formed in the wall thereof two apertures spaced from each other at a predetermined distance in the direction of the length1of the cap, and a clip having an integral body of spring material including an elongate shank and an offset end portion, said offset end portion comprising a portion bent away from said shank, folded closely back upon itself toward and under said shank and bent again away from said shank, the folded portion and the free end of said offset end portion being inserted into said two apertures of said cap, and the distance between said folded portion and said free end of the offset end portion being larger than the distance between said apertures of the cap.

A clip for use in connection with a pocket borne implement having a longitudinal wall portion pierced by two apertures spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction, said clip comprising a substantially straight portion adapted to extend adjacent said wall portion and spaced therefrom and being bent near one end of said straight portion and thence folded and bent arcuately in an opposite direction adjoining for a portion said first bend to form therewith a folded portion and then increasingly being spaced from same and from said straight portion and having a terminal portion forming an angle with said folded portion, said terminal portion arranged to be inserted in one of said apertures and said folded portion in the other.

A clip for use in connection with a pocket borne implement having a longitudinal wall portion pierced by two apertures spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction, said clip including a preformed structure made of a single elongated resilient piece comprising a shank portion arranged to be disposed adjacent said wall portion and spaced therefrom, an arcuate portion at one end of said shank portion, a folded portion on said arcuate portion, and a second arcuate portion extending from said folded portion and having its convex side facing towards said shank portion and including a terminal portion adapted to be inserted in one of said apertures and forming an angle with said folded portion, said folded portion having two parts sufficiently closely adjoining to be-subsequently inserted together in the other aperture for resiliently removably securing said clip in said apertures.

A clip for use in connection with a pocket borne implement having a longitudinal wall portion pierced by two apertures spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction, said clip made of a single blank of resilient material having a certain thickness and comprising an end portion having lateral opposite extensions adapted to be folded towards one another to form a bulbous tip, an elongated portion adjacent thereto to form a shank and being bent transversely of its length for increasing lengthwise the rigidity of said shank, an extension on said shank being bent first longitudinally of said shank and thence folded sharply and bent arcuately back On said extension to form a fold of substantially twice said certain thickness and terminating at an angle to said fold and spaced therefrom for a distance sufliciently to permit insertion and retaining of said fold in one aperture and said terminus in the other aperture, whereby, due to the resiliency and angle therebetween, said fold and terminus will be mounted removably on said wall portion. 1 ROSE R.
