Abstract

The disclosed subject matter comprises an enhanced screen organizer component (ESOC) that can efficiently control organization and presentation of desired screens, which relate to an industrial control system, to a user. At design time, a designer employs the ESOC to select and organize one or more screens for a project relating to a control system, create and organize screen folders that can contain desired folders or screens in a hierarchical fashion, select a home screen or favorite screens, respectively, for the operator, role or group, wherein a home screen can be a screen a user views when authenticated into a terminal or the screen the user can be returned to in response to selection of a home control. During run time, the user can access desired screens, and use context menus to select a home screen, favorite screens, or other screens, in accordance with user access rights.

Description

an interface component configured to present at least a portion of the organized icon structure, comprising at least a portion of the one or more icons, to facilitate the operation of the control system.
2. The system ofclaim 1, further comprising a menu component configured to facilitate provision of a set of shortcut control icons associated with a set of shortcut controls to facilitate navigation to respective screens of a set of screens associated with the organized icon structure in response to respective information that indicates manipulation of respective shortcut controls of the set of shortcut controls, wherein the respective screens comprise respective subsets of data relating to the control system.
3. The system ofclaim 1, wherein the organization component is configured to facilitate provision of a shortcut control via the interface component to facilitate navigation from a first instance of a screen associated with a screen icon of the one or more icons to a second instance of the screen, wherein the first instance facilitates display of a first subset of data associated with the control system and the second instance facilitates display of a second subset of data associated with the control system.
4. The system ofclaim 3, wherein the one or more icons comprises a shortcut control icon, and wherein the interface component is configured to present the shortcut control icon associated with the shortcut control, and, in response to input information that facilitates manipulation of the shortcut control icon, the organization component is configured to facilitate the navigation from the first instance of the screen associated with the screen icon to the second instance of the screen to facilitate the display of the second subset of data associated with the control system.
5. The system ofclaim 1, wherein the organizer component is configured to provide, via the interface component at least during design time, a set of configuration screens comprising a set of configuration controls that facilitate the organization of the one or more icons to facilitate the generation of the organized icon structure.
6. The system ofclaim 1, wherein an icon of the one or more icons facilitates access of a screen configured to comprise information associated with the control system, wherein at least a portion of the information presented on the screen changes over time during run time of the control system, and wherein the interface component is further configured to present at least the portion of the information at a given time during the run time.
7. The system ofclaim 1, wherein the organizer component is configured to generate a screen associated with an icon of the one or more icons, wherein the screen comprises information associated with a portion of the control system.
8. The system ofclaim 7, wherein the organizer component is configured to implement multiple instances, comprising a first instance and a second instance, for the screen at a given time, wherein the first instance is associated with a first subset of information associated with the portion of the control system and the second instance is associated with a second subset of information associated with the portion of the control system.
9. The system ofclaim 8, wherein the interface component is configured to present the first subset of information associated with the portion of the control system to a first user identity based at least in part on a first set of access rights granted to the first user identity, and present the second subset of information associated with the portion of the control system to a second user identity based at least in part on a second set of access rights granted to the second user identity.
10. The system ofclaim 1, wherein the one or more icons comprises a subset of screen icons associated with a subset of screens and a subset of folder icons associated with a subset of folders, and wherein the organizer component is configured to organize respective screen icons of the subset of screen icons and respective folder icons of the subset of folder icons in relation to each other, in accordance with the defined organization criterion, to generate the organized icon structure.
11. A method, comprising:
generating, by a system comprising a processor, an organizer function that facilitates creating an organized icon structure comprising a set of icons, wherein respective icons of the set of icons are arranged in relation to each other to form the organized icon structure for use in facilitating controlling an industrial control system; and
providing, by the system, the organizer function for use in the creating of the organized icon structure.
12. The method ofclaim 11, further comprising:
facilitating, by the system, arranging the respective icons of the set of icons in relation to each other to form the organized icon structure, based at least in part on a defined organization criterion; and
providing, by the system, at least a subset of the set of icons of the organized icon structure to facilitate the controlling of the industrial control system.
13. The method ofclaim 11, wherein the set of icons comprises a subset of shortcut control icons, and wherein the method further comprises:
presenting, by the system, the subset of shortcut control icons associated with a subset of shortcut controls to facilitate navigating to respective screens of a set of screens associated with the organized icon structure, wherein the respective screens comprise respective subsets of data relating to the industrial control system.
