Abstract

A video processing apparatus, comprises a signal receiving part receiving a video signal through one of a plurality of channels, a user inputting part in which the channel is selected and inputted by a user, a video processing part processing the video signal received by the signal receiving part, and a controller controlling the signal receiving part to start receiving a video signal through a first channel upon the first channel selection among the plurality of channels by the user, and to start receiving a video signal through a second channel upon the second channel selection among the plurality of channels by the user, wherein the second channel selection is made during the receiving process of the first channel.
Thus, the present invention provides a video processing apparatus and a video processing method capable of performing a channel change rapidly to solve the above-described problem.

Description

Claims (22)

1. A video processing apparatus, comprising:
a user input unit to receive a user input for channel selection;
a signal receiving unit to receive a video signal from one of a plurality of channels in accordance with the user input for channel selection;
a video processing unit to process the video signal received by the signal receiving unit; and
a controller to command the signal receiving unit to receive a video signal from a first channel upon a first user input for channel selection among the plurality of channels and to receive a video signal from a second channel, which is different from the first channel, upon a second user input for channel selection among the plurality of channels,
wherein if the second user input for channel selection is received before the signal receiving unit receives a video signal from a channel in accordance with the first user input for channel selection or if the second user input for channel selection is received while the signal receiving unit receives a video signal from a channel in accordance with the first user input for channel selection or the video processing unit processes the video signal received from the channel in accordance with the first user input for channel selection before the video signal is displayed on a display screen, the controller commands the signal receiving unit to receive a video signal from a channel of the second user input for channel selection so that the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection is displayed on the display screen, and the video signal from the channel of the first user input for channel selection is not displayed on the display screen although the first user input for channel selection is received by the user input unit.
6. The video processing apparatus according toclaim 1, wherein if the second user input for channel selection is received within a predetermined reference time from the time when the first user input for channel selection was received and tuning to the first channel is not completed, the second user input for channel selection is ignored,
wherein if the tuning to the first channel is completed within the predetermined reference time, the start of receiving the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection occurs when the second user input for channel selection is received after the tuning to the first channel is completed, and
wherein if the tuning to the first channel is not completed within the predetermined reference time, the start of receiving the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection occurs upon the second user input for channel selection after the predetermined reference time has passed.
12. A video processing method of a video processing apparatus, comprising:
receiving a user input for channel selection;
receiving a video signal from a first channel upon a first user input for channel selection among a plurality of channels; and
receiving a video signal from a second channel, which is different from the first channel, upon a second user input for channel selection among the plurality of channels,
wherein if the second user input for channel selection is received before the video signal from a channel in accordance with the first user input for channel selection is received or if the second user input for channel selection is received while the video signal from the channel in accordance with the first user input for channel selection is received or while the video signal received from the channel in accordance with the first user input for channel selection is processed before the video signal is displayed on a display screen, the receiving of the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection comprises receiving the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection so that the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection is displayed on the display screen, and the video signal from the channel of the first user input for channel selection is not displayed on the display screen although the first user input for channel selection is received.
17. The video processing method according toclaim 12, wherein if the second user input for channel selection is received within a predetermined reference time from the time when the first user input for channel selection was received and tuning to the first channel is not completed, the second user input for channel selection is ignored,
wherein if the tuning to the first channel is completed within the predetermined reference time, the start of receiving the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection occurs when the second user input for channel selection is received after the tuning to the first channel is completed, and
wherein if the tuning to the first channel is not completed within the predetermined reference time, the start of receiving the video signal from the channel of the second user input for channel selection occurs upon the second user input for channel selection after the predetermined reference time has passed.
