This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 60/964,754, filed Aug. 15, 2007.
The crepe paper decoration hanger is comprised of at least three layers, which can be of equal or varied sizes, attached at the top portion, to form one solid piece, allowing the bottom portion of the layers to be used either individually or in conjunction with other layers. The device has covered self adhesive stripping attached to the the back, lower portion of the top layer, the back and front lower portion of the middle layer and the front lower portion of the base layer that allows for the placement of multiple decorations from one hanger. The top of the back of the base layer has covered, self adhesive stripping that is used to securely mount the hanger with the addition of a tab that aids in the removal of the hanger after use.
When the layers of the hanger are in use, the covered self adhesive stripping located on the top portion of the back of the base layer would be mounted to the surface to be decorated, then the covered self adhesive stripping on the lower portion of the front of the base layer would be used to mount decorations, i.e. streamers, ribbons, beads, or any lightweight decoration. After placement of decorations, the covered, self adhesive stripping located on the back lower portion of the middle hanger would then be used in conjunction to secure the decorations. The covered self adhesive stripping located on the front lower portion of the middle hanger would be used to add additional decorations, i.e. streamers, ribbons, beads, or any lightweight decoration.
After placement of these additional decorations, the covered self adhesive stripping located on the lower portion of the back of the top layer would be used in conjunction to secure the decorations.
The decoration hanger is preferably constructed i.e., die-cut from a lightweight, flexible material with or without colors, graphics, themes, sayings or designs of any kind. The two dimensional aspect of the decoration hanger when laid flat allows for easier shipping and storage and can be “stacked” without fear of damage to the product.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention is an inexpensive, pre-assembled party decoration hanger that allows the use of multiple hanging decorations from one hanger to another hanger to be hung securely. Traditionally thumbtacks, tape and push pins have been used for this purpose with less than satisfactory results. The means mentioned above, such as thumbtacks, tape or push pins may not anchor decorations sufficiently or may cause damage to the surfaces to which they are attached, such as holes, tearing or damage to painted surfaces. This method of “attaching” decorations quickly loses it's appeal when “falling” decorations or “damage” to surfaces become apparent. The present invention provides a decorative, easy to use and easy to remove alternative to the methods used in the past. The decoration hanger allows the user to hang multiple decorations using the layers of the hanger to securely hold the decorations in place, then to suspend the decoration to another hanger within the area to be decorated. The addition of a tab that is attached to the covered, self adhesive stripping that is used in mounting the hanger aids in the removal of the hanger after use and also aids in the prevention of damages to the surface that the hanger is mounted to. The decoration hanger of the present invention is preferably made with a lightweight material that is a colorful, decorative alternative to the methods of the past. Thus a highly desirable decoration hanger with the ability to hang multiple decorations is provided. With the options of colors, graphics, greetings, sayings, holiday themes or any occasion where party decorations are desired, the present invention allows the user to have a desirable, decorative alternative to the methods of the past.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe claimed invention is a crepe paper decoration hanger that allows the hanging of multiple decorations from one hanger. Traditionally, thumbtacks, push pins and tape have been used for the purpose of hanging decorations, i.e. crepe paper streamers, with less than satisfactory results. The means mentioned above, such as thumbtacks, tape or push pins may not anchor decorations sufficiently or may cause damage to the surfaces to which they are attached, such as holes, tearing or damage to painted surfaces. The crepe paper decoration hanger allows the user to hang multiple decorations securely without the fear of “falling” decorations. The covered, self adhesive stripping that is used to mount the hanger has a tab attached that aids in the removal of the device and also aids in the prevention of damage to the surface that the hanger is mounted to. The object of the present invention is to have a desirable, decorative alternative means to hang decorations compared to the methods of the past.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSWith reference toFIG. 1, a decoration hanger with multiple layers is constructed i.e. die-cut from a thin flexible material. Preferably, the material is a lightweight, flexible paper, vinyl or plastic but any sturdy, lightweight material will suffice. The paper can be one or more colors, with or without graphics, designs, sayings or greetings. As inFIG. 1, the decoration hanger lays flat and is two dimensional before use and is preferably packaged using cellophane envelopes to facilitate efficiency in displaying the product for merchants and also allows the individual consumer to choose the type of hanger, i.e., color, graphic, theme, holiday, without opening the package. The layers as shown inFIG. 1 are of graduated shorter layers with thebase layer4 being the longest layer, but all layers can be of equal sizes. The decoration hanger has at least three layers, thetop layer2, themiddle layer3 and thebase layer4. In the preferred embodiment, the three layers are attached at the top portions to from onepiece1. Still referring toFIG. 1, the hanger is shown laying flat which minimizes storage space and allows the product to be “stacked” without fear of damage to the hanger and makes for easier shipping.
With reference toFIG. 2, the upper portion of the back of thebase layer5 has covered, self adhesive stripping with a tab attached with which to mount the hanger when is use. The lower portion of the back of thebase hanger6 will be flexible and may either be drawn away form the surface on which it is mounted or be flat against the surface on which it is mounted, depending upon the type and weight of the decoration attached the the lower front portion of thebase layer4 of the hanger.
In the embodiment ofFIG. 3, the top layer of thehanger2, the middle layer of thehanger3 and the base layer of thehanger4 are shown in the perspective side view. The lower portion of the back of thetop layer7 shows the covered self adhesive stripping attached8 that will be used in conjunction with the covered self adhesive stripping on the lower portion of the front of themiddle layer9. Still referring toFIG. 3, the lower portion of the back of themiddle layer11 shows the covered, self adhesive stripping on the lower portion of thelayer10 which will be used in conjunction with the covered, selfadhesive stripping12 shown on the lower front lower portion of thebase layer4.
As seen inFIG. 4, a perspective front side angle view of the decoration hanger shows thetop layer2 andmiddle layer3 when lifted to exhibit the covered, self adhesive stripping attached to the front of thebase layer12 and the covered, self adhesive stripping attached to the front of themiddle layer9.
As seen inFIG. 5, a perspective back side angle view of the decoration hanger shows the back of the lower portion of thetop layer7 and the back of the lower portion of themiddle layer11 when lifted to exhibit the covered, self adhesive stripping attached to the back of the top layer of thehanger8 and the covered, self adhesive stripping attached to the back of the middle layer of thehanger10. Also shown inFIG. 5, the covered, self adhesive stripping used to mount thedecoration hanger5 is shown with the tab attached for ease of removal after use.
