Slidably arranged below the inclined playing board I2 is aslide plate 33. Thisslide plate 33 hasopenings 34 formed therein into which the tongues I8 of the traps I6 project, and those portions of theslide plate 33 which denne the marginal edges of theseopenings 34 are engageable with the tongues or arms I8 of the traps I6 so as to reset or move the latter into open position.

Carried by and depending from theslide plate 33 is an arm 35 (Fig. 2) and thisarm 35 is engageable with the inner end of thecoin slide 28, (right hand end, Figs. 2 and 3).

Mounted on the lower inclined floor I9 in the enlarged lower end portion 2I of eachrunway 20 is a supportingbracket 35 which has a pair of spacedupright extensions 31. Thebracket 36 also has anarm 33 which projects above theextensions 31 thereof. Extending between., and

having its ends journalled in, theextensions 31 of each of thebrackets 36 ishorizontal shaft 39 and each of theseshafts 39 carries a score indicating or registering device which is generally indicated at 40 (Figs. 5 and 6) Each of the scoreeindicating or registering devices 4G includes a base plate 4I. Each of these base plates 4I is associated with one of the pockets orball exit openings 25 and each base plate 4I includes two downwardly and oppositely angled orfcurved end portions 42 and 43 (Figs. 4 and 5) which normally' project into thecorresponding pocket 25.

Each of the score-indicating or registeringdevices 43 also includes anupright arm 44 and carried by eacharm 44 at the upper end thereof is a score-indicating member in the form of a segmental dial orplate 45. Each of theseindicators 45 has a relativelyblank portion 46andeach indicator 45 has oppositely angled score'indiciabearing end portions 41 and 48 which are arranged on opposite sides of the relativelyf blankcentral portion 45. The relativelyv blankcentral portions 45 of theindicators 45, as well as the indicia-bearingangled end portions 41 and 48 thereof are visible, at different times, throughsight openings 49; these openings 4B being formed inhousings 53 which are arranged in the cabinet I I above the inclined playing board I2.

Thescore indicators 45 and their supportingarms 44, are normally held by resetting springs 5I, in a position wherein the relatively blankcentral portions 45 of theindicators 45 are visible through thesight openings 49;' these re-setting springs 5I being attached at their upper ends to the adjacent andcorresponding bracket arms 38 and being attached at their lower ends to the upward extensions 52 of theindicators 45.

Operation Balls are played, one at a time, around the ramp I4, onto the inclined playing surface I2, by means of the propelling devicev I5, sorthat they may enter into the ball exit or scoring openings I3, whereupon, falling through the exit openings I3, they engage the tongues I8 thereof and close the traps I6 so as to prevent additional balls from being played through the corresponding exit openings I3.

The played balls whichfall through the exit openings I3 pass into the correspondinginclined runways 20 and traveling by gravity down the latter, are deflected by thepins 22 (Fig. 5) into either one of the twobranches 23 or 24 of thecorresponding runway 20.

Thus, assuming that a ball is deflected by thepins 22 into thebranch 23 of one of therunways 20, it will then pass into the corresponding exit opening orpocket 25 and fall upon theangled end portion 43 or base of the indicating device 4U, thereby pivoting the indicating device 4U clockwise, Fig. 5, against the action if its resetting spring 5I; thus pivoting the indicia-bearing angled end portion or face 48 of the indicator 45 (clockwise, Fig. 5) into registration with the corresponding sight opening 49 so as to expose to view the score-indicatingindicium 53 thereon.

Conversely, if the played ball is deected by thepins 22 into the branch 24 of the runway 2G it will fall upon theangled end portion 42 of the base plate 4I of the corresponding indicatingdevice 40,-

andin so doing, will pivot the indicating device 4U (counterclockwise, Fig. 5), against the action of its resetting spring 5I, so as to expose to View through the corresponding sight opening 49 the flag or indicium-bearing end portion 41 of the corresponding indicator 4U and the score-indicating indicium 54 thereon.

Theindicia 53 and 54 on the flags orindicators 53 and 54, respectively, are in the preferred and particular form of the invention shown in the drawings, the indicia used in playing the socalled game of Tic-Tac-Toe, and it is to be noted that a bank ofsight openings 49 are provided in the cabinet I I above the playing surface I2 in acrostic rows (Fig. 1) and corresponding number of the indicators 46-41-48, etc., are arranged therebelow, so that the player may attempt to play balls into the ball exit or scoring openings I3 in such a manner as to actuate the ilags or indicators 40-45-45 etc., according to a selected pattern of acrostic rows orsight openings 49.

The indicator flags 41 or 48 areheld in registration with thesight openings 49, by entrapment of the spentballs 55 in thepockets 25 between theangled end portions 42 and 43 respectively, of the base plates 4I of theindicators 40 until such time as thecoin slide 28 is moved inwardly (left to right, Fig. 2) whereupon the dependingarm 29 of thecoin slide 28 engages the lower edge portioni of theslide plate 26 and thus moves theopenings 30 therein into registration with the exit openings orpocket 25 which are formed in the floor I9. The trappedballs 55 then fall into the inclined runway 3I by 'which they are returned to thetransverse runway 32 to be fed by the latter to a point adjacent to but below the propelling device I5 for replay.

' As thecoin slide 28 is moved inwardly (left to right, Fig. 2), the inner end of the coin slide (right-hand end, Figs. 2 and 3) engages the dependingarm 35 of theslide plate 33, thereby shifting the latter (left to right, Fig. 2), whereupon the portions of theslide plate 33 which dene the to tell, even after ascertaining the particular exitV opening I3 through which a played ball has fallen, which of the two score-indicators or flags 41-48 associated therewith will be actuated thereby and brought into registration with the corresponding sight opening 49, since the played ball, travelling aooaooa` ing score-indicatingdevice 40.

It is to be understood `that the particular in dicia- 53-54 shown on Vthe flags -or Yindicators 148-41 respectively are merely illustrativevof indicia which may be used for playingthe so-called game of TicTac-Toe and that the 'indicia shown may be replaced by any other desired score-indicating indicia; 1

5. In a game apparatus, the combination a cabinet having a sight opening formed ltherein and` including an inclined playing board having a ball exit opening provided therein; means for propelling balls one at a time onto the Vupper portion4 of said inclined playing board sothat they may gravitate thereover and enter into said exitopening; an inclined'runway arranged below said inclined playing board in communication with said ball exit opening lfor conducting spent balls back to a point adjacent to but belowsaid propelling means; said runway having `a ball exit-"opening or pocket provided thereinlin the lower portion thereof and having4 branches communicating with said pocket; a score indicating device in said cabinet including an indicator member having spaced indicia thereon selectively movable into registration with said sight opening and having a relatively blank space between said indicia; means normally urging said indicator into a position to dispose said rela,- tively blank space in registration with said sight opening; and means actuated by balls entering said pocket from the said branches of said runway to move said indicator at diiierent times in opposite directions, against the action of said urging means, and thereby move said indicia selectively into registration with said sight opening.

6. In a game apparatus, the combination of a cabinet having a sight opening formed therein and including an inclined playing board having a ball exit opening provided therein; means for propelling balls one at a time onto the upper portion of said inclined playing board so that they may gravitate thereover and enter into said exit opening; an inclined runway arranged below said inclined pla-yingy board` in communication with said ball exit opening for conducting spent balls back to a point adjacent to but below said propelling means, said runway having a ball exit opening or pocket provided therein; a score indicating device in said cabinet including an indicator member having spaced indicia thereon movable at diierent times into registration with said sight opening; means actuated by balls entering said pocket from the said runway to move said indicator at different times in opposite directions and thereby move said indicia selectively into registration with said sight opening arranged in said cabinet; and a ball-releasing member below said pocket for temporarily holding balls therein and said second-named means in effective position.

In a game apparatus, the combination of: a cabinet having a sight opening formed therein and including an inclined playing board having a ball exit opening provided therein; means for propelling balls one at a time onto the upper portion of said inclined playing board so that they may gravitate thereover and enter into said exit opening; an inclined runway arranged below said inclined playing board in communication l with said ball exit opening for conducting spent balls back to a point adjacent to, but below, said propelling means; said runway having a ball exit opening or pocket provided therein; means dividing said runway into branches; a score indicating device in said cabinet including a segmental indicator dial having spaced indicia thereon selectively movable into registration with said sight opening and having a relatively blank space thereon between said indicia; means normally urging said indicator dial into a position to dispose said relatively blank space in registration with said sight opening; and means actuated by balls entering said pocket from the said runway to move said indicator at different times in opposite directions and said indicia selectively into registration with said sight openings.

In a game apparatus, the combination of: a cabinet having a bank of sight openings provided therein arranged in acrostic rows and said cabinet including an inclined playing board provided with ball exit or scoring openings; means for propelling balls one at a time onto the upper portion of said inclined playing board so that they may gravitate thereover and enter into said ball exit or scoring openings; inclined runways arranged in said cabinet below said inclined play'- ing board for conducting spent balls to a point adjacent to, but below, said propelling means and each of saidy runways having communication with a preselected number of said ball exit or scoring openings; a score indicating device arranged in said cabinet below each of said sight openings and each of said score-indicating devices including an indicator having spaced scoreindicating indicia thereon and each of said indicators having a relatively blank space thereon in registration with the corresponding one of said sight openings; each of said runways having a ball exit opening or pocket formed therein in the lower portion thereof; and each of said scoreindicating devices including means actuated by balls traveling from the corresponding one of said runways into the said pocket formed therein to move the corresponding one or" said indicators, at different times, against the action of the said urging means, into a position to dispose the said indicia thereon selectively in registration with the corresponding one of said sight openings.

In a game apparatus, the combination of a cabinet having a bank ofsight openings provided therein arranged in acrostic rows and said cabinet including an inclined playing board provided with ball exit or scoring opening; -means for propelling balls one at av time onto the upper portion of said inclined playing board so that they may gravitate thereover and enter into said ball exit or scoring openings; inclined runways arranged in said cabinet below said inclined playing board for conducting spent balls to a point adjacent to, but below, said propelling means and each of said runways having ycommunication with a preselectedy number of said ball exit or scoring openings; a score indicating device arranged in said cabinet below each of said sight openings and each of said score-indicating devices including an indicator` having spaced scoreindicating indicia thereon and each of said indicators having a relatively blank space thereon between said indicia; means normally urging each of said indicators into position to dispose the said relatively blank space thereon in registration with the corresponding one of said sight openings; each of said runways having a ball exit opening or pocket formed therein in the lower portion thereof; each of said runways including branches and said branches having communication independently relative to each other with a corresponding one of said pockets; and each of said score-indicating devices including means actuated by balls traveling from the said branches of the corresponding one of said runways into the said pocket formed therein to move said indicators, at diierent times, against the action of the said urging means, into a position to dispose the said indicia thereon selectively in registration with said sight openings.

In a game apparatus, the combination of a cabinet having a bank of sight-openings provided therein arranged in acrostic rows and said cabinet including an inclined playing board provided with ball exit or scoring openings; means for propelling balls one at a time onto the upper portion of said inclined playing board so that they may gravitate thereover and enter into said ball exit or scoring openings; inclined runways arranged in saidcabinet below said inclined playing board for conducting spent balls to a point adjacent to, but below, said propelling means and each of said runways having communication with a preselected number of said ball exit or scoring openings; a score indicating device arranged in said cabinet below each of said sight openings and each of said score-indicating devices including an indicator having spaced score-indicating indicia thereon; each of said indicators having a relatively blank space thereon between said indicia; meansV normally urging each of said indicators into position to dispose the said relatively blank space thereon in registration with the corresponding one of said sight openings; each of said runways having a ball exit opening or pocket formed therein in the lower portion thereof.; each of said runways including branches and said branches having communication independently relative to each other with the corresponding one of said pockets; and each of said score-indicating devices including means, actuated by balls traveling from the said branches of the corresponding one of said runways into the said pocket formed therein, to move said indicators, at different times, and in opposite directions, against the action of the said urging means, into a position to dispose'the said l having a sight opening therein and including a member providing a playing surface having a ball exit opening therein; means for propelling balls over said playing surface so that they may enter into said exit opening; a ball return runway below said playing surface having communication with said exit opening; a score indicator pivotally mounted in said cabinet below said sight opening; and means including a member arranged'in said runway and operable by a ball traveling therealong for pivoting said score indicator, at diierent times, in opposite directions, into registration with said sight opening.

12. A game apparatus, comprising: a cabinet having a sight opening therein and including a member providing a playing surface having a ball exit opening therein; means for propelling balls over said playing surface so that they may enter into said exit opening; a ball return runway below said playing surface having communication with said exit opening; a score indicator movably mounted in said cabinet below said sight opening; and means including a member arranged in said runway and operable by a ball traveling therealong for moving said score indicator, at different times, in opposite directions, into registration with said sight opening.

13. A game apparatus, comprising: a cabinet including a member providing a playing surface having a ball exit opening therein; means for propelling balls over said playing surface so that they may enter into said exit opening; a ball return runway below said playing surface having communication with said exit opening; a scorel indicator pivotally mounted in said cabinet; and means including a member arranged in said runway and operable by a ball traveling therealong for pivoting said score indicator, at different times, in opposite directions. i Y

14. A game apparatus, comprising: a cabinet including a member providing a playing surface having a ball exit opening therein; a ball return runway below said playing surface having communication with said exit opening; a score indicator movably mounted in said cabinet; and

means including a member arranged in said runway and operable by a ball traveling therealong for moving said score indicator, 'at diierent times, in opposite directions.

15. A game apparatus, comprising: a cabinet having a sight opening therein and including a member providing `a playing surface having Ya ball exit opening therein; means for propelling balls over said playing surface so that they may enter into said exit opening; a ball return runway in said cabinet below said playing surface and having communication with said ball exit opening; said runway having communicating branches; a score indicator pivotally mounted in said cabinet below said sight opening; and means in- Y cluding a member having a portion arranged in each of the said branches of said runway and engageable by a ball traveling therealong for pivoting said score indicator, at different times, in opposite directions, into registration with said sight opening.

A` game apparatus, comp-rising: a cabinet having a sight opening therein and including a member providing a playing surface having a ball exit opening therein; means for propelling balls over said playing surface so that they may enter into said exit opening; a ball return runway in said cabinet below said playing surface and having communication with said ball exit opening; said runway having communicating branches; a score indicator movably mounted in said cabinet below said sight opening; and means including a member having a portioni arranged in each of the said branches of said runway and engageable by a ball traveling therealong for moving said score indicator, at different times, in opposite directions, into registration with said sight opening.

17. A game apparatus, comprising: a cabinet having a sight opening therein and including a member providing a playing surface having a ball exit opening therein; means for propelling'balls over said playing surface so that they may enter into said exit opening; a ball return runway in said cabinet below said playing surface and having communication with said ball exit opening; said runway having communicating branches; a score indicator pivotally mounted in said cabinet below said sight opening; and means including an element arranged in each of the said branches of said runway and 'engageable by a ball traveling therealong for pivoting said score indicator, at different times, in opposite directions, into registration with said sight opening.

18. A game apparatus, comprising: a cabinet having a sight opening therein and including a member providing a playing surface having a ball exit opening therein; means for propelling balls over said playing surface so that they may enter into said exit opening; a ball return runway in said cabinet below said playing surface and having communication with said ball exit opening; said runway having communicating branches; a score indicator movably mounted in said cabinet below said sight op-ening; and means including an element arranged in each of the said branches of said runway and engageable by a ball traveling therealong for moving said score indicator, at different times, in opposite directions, into registration with said sight opening.
