BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Referring toFIG. 1, afastener bag1 in a first embodiment according to the present invention includes apackaging bag2, and afastening device3 welded or bonded to the inner surface of thepackaging bag2.
As shown inFIGS. 1 and 2, thepackaging bag2 is formed by foldingside parts4aand4bof a rectangular packaging sheet, joining the foldedside parts4aand4bsuch that the inner surfaces thereof are contiguous, heat-sealing the thus joined foldedside parts4aand4bto form a tubular structure having a back sealedpart5, and heat-sealing the upper and the lower end of the tubular structure to form an upper sealedpart6 and a lower sealedpart7.
Although it is preferably that the packaging sheet is a laminated film, the packaging sheet may be a single film.
Laminated films suitable as the packaging sheet for forming atransparent packaging bag2 are a laminated film formed by laminating a 20 to 50 μm thick biaxially oriented polypropylene film, and a 20 to 60 μm thick nonoriented polypropylene film by a laminating process using a 2 to 3 μm thick dry bonding layer, a laminated film formed by laminating a 9 to 25 μm thick polyester film, and a 25 to 120 μm thick straight-chain, low-density polyethylene film by a laminating process using a 2 to 3 μm thick dry bonding layer, and a laminated film formed by laminating a 9 to 20 μm thick biaxial oriented nylon film, and a 25 to 120 μm thick polyethylene film by a laminating process using a 2 to 3 μm thick dry bonding layer. An extruded 12 to 20 μm thick polyethylene layer may be used as a bonding layer instead of the dry bonding layer.
Laminated films suitable as the packaging sheet for forming anopaque packaging bag2 are a laminated film formed by laminating a 9 to 25 μm thick polyester film, a 6 to 30 μm thick aluminum foil, and a 20 to 120 μm thick straight-chain low-density polyethylene film by a laminating process using a 2 to 3 μm thick dry bonding layer, and a laminated film formed by laminating a 9 to 25 μm thick polyester film, a 12 μm thick aluminum-metallized polyester film, and a 20 to 60 μm thick nonoriented polypropylene film by a laminating process using a 2 to 3 μm thick dry bonding layer. A 12 to 20 μm thick extruded polyethylene layer may be used as a bonding layer instead of the dry bonding layer.
Referring toFIG. 2, thefastening device3 includes a separatemale fastening member8 and a separatefemale fastening member9. Themale fastening member8 has abase part8aattached to a part of the inner surface of thepackaging bag2 on one side of the back sealedpart5. Thefemale fastening member9 has abase part9aattached to a part of the inner surface of thepackaging bag2 on the other side of the back sealedpart5.
Themale fastening member8 and thefemale fastening member9 are formed by extruding an olefin resin, such as a polyethylene, a polypropylene or a copolymer of a polyethylene and a polypropylene by an extrusion molding machine. Although themale fastening member8 and thefemale fastening member9 shown inFIG. 2 have each a single engaging part, the same may be provided with two or more engaging parts when necessary.
As shown inFIG. 2, thepackaging bag2 is provided with narrow roughenedtear parts10 in the outer surface of the laminated film forming thepackaging bag2. The narrow roughenedtear parts10 are formed along the back sealedpart5. The roughenedtear parts10 are those provided with scratches not penetrating the laminated film formed by pressing a sand paper against the laminated film. The roughenedtear parts10 are the tear-facilitating means of the packaging bag.
When opening thefastener bag1, one end of the back sealedpart5 is held between fingers, the back sealedpart5 is pulled away from the surface of thefastener bag1 to tear the laminated film along bends in the back sealed part provided with the roughenedtear parts10.
A method of manufacturing the fastener bag will be described.
A continuous laminated film is cut in a packaging sheet of a length equal to twice the sum of the width of thepackaging bag2 shown inFIG. 1 and the length of the back sealedpart5 of thepackaging bag2 to form thepackaging bag2 that can be used on an automatic filling and packaging machine. When folding the packaging sheet to form thepackaging bag2, at least one of theside parts4aand4bjoined by heat-sealing to form the back sealedpart5 is provided with the roughenedtear part10. Preferably, both the side parts are provided with the roughened tear parts, respectively.
Theside parts4aand4bare bent and are joined such that the inner surfaces thereof are contiguous to form a tubular structure. The roughenedtear parts10 formed in the packaging sheet extend along the bends of theside parts4aand4b.
Then, acontinuous fastening device3 with themale fastening member8 and thefemale fastening member9 engaged is inserted in the tubular structure such that thebase part8aof themale fastening member8 is disposed on a part of the inner surface of the tubular structure on one side of the joint of theside parts4aand4b, and thebase part9aof thefemale fastening member9 of the fastening device is disposed on a part of the inner surface of the tubular structure on the other side of the joint of theside parts4aand4b. Thus, themale fastening member8 and thefemale fastening member9 are disposed on the opposite sides of the joint of theside parts4aand4b, respectively.
Then, the joinedside parts4aand4bof the tubular structure are bonded together by heat-sealing and, at the same time, therespective base parts8aand9aof themale fastening member8 and thefemale fastening member9 are welded or bonded to the inner surface of the tubular structure. Thus, the tubular structure having open opposite ends and provided with thefastening device3 attached to its inner surface is formed.
Then, one end of the tubular structure fixedly provided with thefastening device3 and having the opposite open ends is heat-sealed to form the lower heat-sealedpart7. Thus, thepackaging bag2 having an open upper end is obtained. An article is filled through the open upper end in thepackaging bag2, and then the upper end of thepackaging bag2 is heat-sealed to form the upper heat-sealedpart6. Thepackaging bag2 filled with the article is cut along the upper heat-sealedpart6 to separate thepackaging bag2 from the packaging sheet.
FIGS. 3 and 4 show a fastener bag1ain a second embodiment according to the present invention. The fastener bag1ashown inFIGS. 3 and 4 differs from thefastener bag1 shown inFIGS. 1 and 2 in that the fastener bag1ais provided with a tear strip11 as a tear-facilitating means combined with afastening device3ainstead of the roughenedtear parts10 of thefastener bag1 shown inFIGS. 1 and 2.

The tear strip11 is attached temporarily to the inner surface of the base part of themale fastening member8 by welding or bonding. The tear strip11 may be attached temporarily to the outer surface of thebase part8aof themale fastening member8. When the tear strip11 is attached to the outer surface of thebase part8a, the respective positions of themale fastening member8 and thefemale fastening member9 on apackaging bag2 are interchanged.
Although it is preferable that the tear strip11 is made of a polymer different from that forming the packaging sheet and is, for example, a nylon monofilament or a metal wire, the tear strip11 may be a cotton yarn or a silk yarn, provided that the tear strip11 has a strength sufficient to tear both thebase part8aof themale fastening member8 and the packaging sheet.
Themale fastening member8 and thefemale fastening member9 of thefastening device3aare formed by continuously extruding an olefin resin by an extrusion molding machine. The tear strip11 can be combined with themale fastening member8 or thefemale fastening member9 by forming the tear strip11 simultaneously with themale fastening member8 or thefemale fastening member9 by coextrusion.
As shown inFIG. 3, thefastening device3aand the tear strip11 are extended continuously between the upper and the lower end of the fastener bag1a. Atriangular pull tab13 is formed by cuttinglines12 in a lower heat-sealedpart7 at a position corresponding to the tear strip11 and an end of the tear strip11 is connected to thepull tab13.
When opening the fastener bag1a, the lower heat-sealedpart7 is cut along thecutting lines12 to separate thepull tab13 from the lower heat-sealedpart7, and then thepull tab13 is held between fingers and is pulled away from the fastener bag1a. Consequently, the tear strip11 connected to thepull tab13 cuts both thebase part8aof themale fastening member8 and the packaging sheet to open the fastener bag1a.
Whereas the fastener bag1ashown inFIG. 4 has the butt seam type packaging bag2a, a fastener bag1bshown inFIG. 5 has an envelope seamtype packaging bag2b.
