The present invention relates to clasps and embodies more Specifically an improved. form; of lingerie clasp by means of which two or more garments maybe eifectively secured together with capacity for proper adjustment and release when desired. To serve effectively as a clasp of this character, the device must not only be capable of easy manipulation in order that it may be adjusted by the person wearing the same regardless of the point at which worn, but the clasp should securely hold the garments in a desired position as long as they are desired to be so held.
In order that a clasp having the above characteristics may be provided, the present invention has been designed and an object thereof is toprovide a'clasp which securely holds garments in any position to which they are adjusted, at the same time being of such character as to permit the adjustment of the clasp with facility.
A further object of the invention is to provide a clasp of the above character, wherein the parts are of such construction as to be readily manufactured and assembled and, when assembled, possess the qualities above outlined.
A further object of the invention is to provide a clasp of the above character wherein provision is made for conveniently securing the same to a garment.

At the sides of theplate 10,- spaced, turned-overfriction flanges 11 are provided, ears'12 also being provided adjacent one end of the plate to retainthe hinge structure described hereinafter in proper position. At the end of the plate, adjacent theears 12, a turned-overcylindrical hinge member 13 is formed, the axis of this'cylindrical hinge member being aligned with thecars 12, as clearly-shown in Figures 1,2, and 4 v I At the end of the plate opposite thehinge member "13, a turned-overflange 14 is formed, this flange being formed with, oppositely extending noses '15-andnotches 16 to facilitate the closing of the clasp and securing the same in such position. Hinged to theplate 10 is a yieldingpressure member 17 which isshown in the form of a spring wire of rectangular outline and of continuous formation, Theends 18 of this wire are-turned in as clearly shown in Figure 2 and are received within thehinge member 13. After being so inserted the ears .80 12 are turned over toprevent the separation ofthe parts and the removal of the pressure member. The length of the pressure member is such'that it extends beyond the end of the plate distant from thehinge member and its width is'such that the sides thereof are received snugly within thenotches 16. In order that the device may be conveniently secured to a garment, the pressure member is formed witheyes 19, not only facilitating the sewing of-the device to a we garment but also increasing the resiliency thereof as will be readily apparent.
The manner in which the device is secured to a garment is illustrated in Figure 5, wherein thefriction flanges 11 engage suitable portions of garments which are indicated at 20, these garments passing over the side portions of thepressure member 17 to effect the proper securing of the garments in a desired position. It will thus be seen that the plate may be formed in a simple stamping operation and the pressure member conveniently formed and the device as sembled as above described.
While the invention has been described with specific reference to the accompanying drawing, it is not to be limited, save as defined in the appended claims.
I claim as my'invention:
1. A clasp comprising a plate having spaced flanges perpendicular to the plate, a spring wire pressure member formed as a rectangular loop having a closed outer end and lying between the flanges, and means to hinge the pressure member to the plate.

A clasp comprising a plate having spaced paralled flanges perpendicular to the plate at the sides thereof, a spring wire pressure member forming a closed loop and hinged to the plate at one end thereof, said member having parallel arms lying between the flanges and adapted to cooperate therewith, and means on the end of the plate opposite the hinge to engage the arms yieldingly.
3. A clasp comprising a plate having spaced parallel flanges perpendicular to the plate at the sides thereof, aspring wire pres sure member hinged to the plate at one end thereof, said member having parallel arms lying between the flanges and adapted to cooperate therewith, and a flange on, the end of the plate opposite the hinge and formed with notches to receive the arms when in W closed position.

Av clasp comprising a plate having spaced parallel flanges perpendicular to the plate at the sides thereof, a spring device pressure member hinged to the plate at one end thereof, said member having parallel arms lying between the flanges and adapted to cooperate therewith, spring loops formed in the pressure member,,and a flange onthe end of the plate opposite the hinge and formed with notches to receive the arms when in closed position.
5. A clasp comprising a plate having spaced parallel flanges perpendicular to the plate at the sides thereof, a spring Wire pressure member having inturned ends, a turned over flange on the plate for engaging the ends of the pressure member hingedly, and means on the plate to secure the ends in the turned over flange.
6. A clasp comprising a plate having spaced parallel flanges perpendicular to the plate at the sides thereof, a spring Wire pressure member having inturned ends, a turned over flange on the plate for engaging the ends of the pressure member hingedly, and ears on the plate to secure the ends in the turned over flange.
' 7. A clasp comprising a plate having spaced flanges perpendicular to the plate, a pressure member having edges adapted to cooperate-with the'respective flanges, and means to hinge the pressure member to the plate at one end, said pressure member being formed with means between the edges thereof at the end of the pressure member distant from the hinge to maintain the edges thereof adjacent the flanges.
