This invention relates to a moistener for the fingers for use in oflices and the like.

The principal objects of the invention are to provide a moistener in the form of a substance which will retain the moisture and keep it at the surface; to construct this moistener of such shape as to enable the whole moistener to be filled with water or moistened without removing the moistening element; to provide a space into which the water can be poured; and also to provide such a space for receiving the fingers when they are being moistened.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a plan of the moistening element by itself; and

Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the moistener complete.

I have shown the moistener as located in a cup 10 which may be of any desired construction. This cup is provided with spurs 11 inside for a purposeto be described.

Themoistening element 12 consists of a piece of sponge rubber. Its vertical walls fit within the cup 10 and the spurs 11 project into the surface of the sponge rubber to keep it from being accidentally displaced.

The sponge rubber element preferably projects materially above the top of the cup and it is provided with an opening 13 preferably in the center and conveniently of a conical shape. This opening extends, preferably, all the Way from the top to the bottom as shown,

but at any rate it leaves a recess in the sponge rubber into which the water can be poured when filling the moistener and which will have slanting surfaces for engagement of the fingers of the operator.

In use the sponge rubber element does not, have to be previously moistened, but can be placed in the cup and kept there. The water is poured in through thecentral opening 13 1928. Serial No. 280,003.

Although I have illustrated and described only a single form of the invention, I am aware of the fact that changes can be made therein by any person skilled in the art without departing from the scope of'the invention as expressed in the claims.
