HEATING-STUVE.
Patented Jan. 4,1876.
OLITHOGRAFHER WASHINGTON, D. C.
N- FEI'ERS, PHOT UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM M. MORSE AND MORRIS G. KNOX, OF HARMAR, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN HEATING-STOVE S.
' 1 Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 171,691, dated January 4, 1876; application filed I December 11, 1575.
tained through the upper portion of the airchamber, and thus the heat of the fire is utilized to a greater extent.
Figure l is a sectional elevation of our improved stove; and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on the line as as, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A and B represent a couple of sections of the upper portion of the stove-cylinder 0, each having, say, four radial tubes, D, lead ing from the extension of the cylinder to the center, where they connect with a vertical passage, E, connecting with a passage, F,
through the top of the stove, so as to cause the .air to enter from the sides and pass through the upper portion of the fire-chamber to I be heated. The bottom of the vertical passage of the lower section is closed to prevent the smoke from escaping, but the same passage of the upper section is open to receive theair from the lower section. These tube-sections of the stove may be made in cast or wrought iron, or other material, as preferred; but for cheapness of construction they will generally be cast.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The shell or cylinder of the stove c011- structed in one or more sections, B, having radial air-inlets D and a Vertical outlet, F, connecting with a passage through the top, substantially as specified.
WILLIAM M. MORSE.
MORRIS Gr. KNOX.
