DAVID W. LEEKA, OF PLUM HOLLOW, IOWA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TUG-SHLIDES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,344, dated August 31, 1875; application filed March 25, 1875.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID W. LEEKA, of Plum Hollow, in the `county of Tremont and in the State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tug-Slides and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, refererence being had to the accompanying` drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangementof a metallic tugslide to take the place of the ordinary leather loops now used, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art,
to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed tofdescribe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a front view, showing the application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a side View of the same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the tug-slide.
A A represent two flat bars, having each a longitudinal slot, a, and connected at their ends by round bars b b, bent as shown in Fig. 3, for the attachment of straps B and C. At each end of the slots a the side bars A A are connected by means of parallel cross bars D D, and in the center at the upper edge by a bent crossbar, E. To the strap B is fastened a buckle, G, to be fastened to a strap, H, depending froln the saddle of the harness. I represents the tug or trace, which passes through the loop or slide formed by the slotted side bars A A and the cross bars D D. The lower strap G from the slide forms part of the strap that goes around the outside of the bellyband. The .tug-slide can be adjusted up and down as desired by means of the buckle G and it is more durable than the ordinary leather loops.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,is-
The combination of the bars A A, having slots a a, end bars b b, cross bars D D, and central bent cross bar E, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 16th day ot February, 187 5.
D. W. LEEKA.
