This invention relates. generally'- to knee protectors usedw'hen working on beet plantations, the invention having more particular reference to a novel type of knee protecting apron.

The invention has for an object the provision of an improved knee protecting apron which will afford greater comfort to the wearer.

-A further object of the invention is the provision of an improved knee protecting apron which will enable the wearer to maintain a kneeling position for a considerable length of time, without fatigue or injury to the knees of the wearer.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

Fig. 1, of the drawing, illustrates my improved knee protecting aprons applied or attached to the knees of the wearer.

As here embodied my improved knee protecting apron comprises aninflatable bag 10, or container preferably of rubber, suitably cemented or vulcanized, so as to be air-tight, and provided with anipple 11, having aremovable cap 12. It being understood that theinflatable bag 10 may be inflated with air through thenipple 11 when thecap 12 is removed from thenipple 11, by blowing with the mouth through thenipple 11, or by means of a hand air pump or any similar suitable apparatus.

Theinflatable bag 10, is covered, enclosed, or encased in acover 13, of suitable size and shape to permit theinflatable bag 10 to be inflated. Thecover 13 bein provided with anaperture 14, to permit t e nipple 11 to exteridorprojec't throghltfllecover 13. The c'vr 1`31'i`sVL provided withside elements 15 and 15, extending therefrom, and having suitably attached thereto, at or near the extremities of theside element 15, `dependingflexible members 16, or straps, having a plurality ofapertures 17, adapted to engage thetongues 18 of thebuckles 19, suitably attached at or near the extremities of the side element 15', so as to removably attach or apply my improved device to the knee of the wearer, as clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawing.

The side elements l5 and 15 are provided withnotches 20, located adjacent .to t-he lower extremity of theside elements 15 and 15', and at either side of thenipple 11.

Referring in particular to Figs. 3, 4, and 5, of the accompanying drawing, thecover 13 is provided with theball members 21, of ordinary snap fasteners, located at or near the upper extremity of thecover 13, adapted to removably engage thesocket members 22 of the said snap fasteners, suitably attachedtothe cover 23.

Theinflatable bag 24, or container, pref erably of rubber, and construction similar to the above mentionedinflatable bag 10, and provided with anipple 11 andremovable cap 12, is covered, encased or enclosed in the saidcover 23 which preferably comprises a rigid flatupper member 23.

The latter described construction is such as will permit thecover 23 to be attached to thecover 13, so as to provide a table, which may be used for pounding or hammering upon, so as not to injure the knee of the wearer.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters PatentV of the United States is as follows 1. A knee pad comprising an inflatable bag of oval 'cross section, a cover enclosing said bag, and an inflatable member adapted to be detachably secured to said pad comprising a flat rigid upper surface adapted to provide a supporting of the wearer.

2. A knee pad comprising an inflatable bag of oval cross sect-ion, an outer casing enclosing said bag, a supporting member having a concaved bottom adapted to fit the curvature of said pad and an upper flat rigid surface adapted to provide a platform, and fastening means on said outer platform on the knee casing for detachably securing said support ing member to said bag; said fastening means being positioned at the upper end of said casing for attaching said supporting means to the position of the pad immediately above the knee of the wearer to provide a supporting platform adapted to assume a substantially horizontal position when the wearer is seated.

3. The combination with a pneumatic knee pad, of a pneumatic supporting means comprising a Hat rigid upper surface adapt` ed to be attached to said pad above the linee portion. thereof, and means for detachably securing said supporting means to said pad, said supporting means being adapted to assume a substantially horizontal position on the leg of the wearer when the wearer is seated.
