Established Within thecylindrical openings 10 and 13, arepistons 20, said pistons having suitably secured theretorollers 21 which are adapted to engage the opposite side faces of thecani 18 in the manner clearly illustrated in Figs. 1 and` 2. ln the present instance, the pistons 2O which occupy the respective sets of aligned' cylinders 10-13 are united byau arm 22, and the saidrollers 21 are mounted uponspindles 23 which extend between this arm and an inward projection on cach of the said pistons. f

As most clearly shown in Fig. 2, theport heads 2 and 3 are each provided with a pair ot annular grooves in the peripheries thereof, the said grooves ot theport head 2 being* indicated b7 thereference numerals 26 and 27, and the grooves of theport head 3 being,` indicated by thereference numerals 28 and 29,' and these groovesare adapted to communicate by means of suitable ports with chambers or manifolds 30,131, 32 and 33, formed in the said casing l.
Ports 34 and 35 laxially disposed in theport head 2 form respectiwely communica;

The operation of the device is as follows: An actuating iiuid, introduced in the present instance through theport 43, isiled in the manner previously explained to the'ports 34 time the'ports 35 and 36 being opened to the exhaust alsogas previously described. .Since the ports'Bll and 36 are oppositely disposed, as also are theports 35 and 37, it will he apparent that as therotor 8 revolves, the opposite ends of the tandem cylinders formed by each pair of oppostely disposedcylindrical openings 37 lfeinp; in the port IUE lill
