MAGAZINE WRENCH.

The present invention provides a tool of the nature of a spanner or nut wrench which embodies provision for receiving a cap screw or a plurality of nuts and which is of special advanta when changing pneumatic tires or per orming other work requiring the loosening and ti htening of a number of nuts, screws and olts.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent and suggest themselves asethe nature of the invention is understood. v 1

While the drawings illustrate. an embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from thenature of the invention.

The numeral designates the holder for the nuts, bolts, screws, and the like, the same being tubular and constituting a magazine, and for convenience of operation anordinar brace 11 is attached at one end to an en of theholder 10, the latter being closed at one end by means of a plug 12 through which and the holder passes an end of thebrace 11 which is made secure by means of a rivet orpin 13. The outer or working end of theholder 10 is reinforced by means of a ferrule orband 14 which has a portion cut away as indicated at 15 toreceive aspring 16 which normally exerts a pressure upon a retainer 17 to hold it projected into the ball or opening of theholder 10 to prevent outward displacement of the nuts, bolts or screws placed within the holder or received therein when removed from the cooperating part, thereby obviating the necessity of receivin the same inthe hand which is objectiona le, particularly when changing tires or performing other work when it is desired not ,to. soil the hands. The retainer 17 preferablyfconsists of aball.

A release 18 is disposed-at one side of the holder 10vand is mounted in the ferrule orband 14 and islprovided at one end with a crank and' at'the opposite end with alift 19 whichris disposed beneath the free end of thespring 16 so that when the crankof the release is moved outwardly, the free end of thespring 16 is correspondingly thrown outward thereby relieving the retainer 17 of inner pressure so that the nuts,

screws, or the, like contained within the holder may readily discharge. The crank portion of'the release normally lies against the side of the holder thereby preventing accidental operation thereof or injury thereto by striking an object.

It will be understood that the release 18 is to be used only when it is-desired to emp-" capacity to hold all of the nuts in an un-- screwlng operation, as for instance in removing the head bolts of an internal combustion engine. In screwing on nuts from the magazine it will be apparent that the bolt end will engage with the first nut in the magazine and will be pulled down as the nut is screwed down on the bolt and the wrench will be self releasing.

A follower '20 is located within theholder 10 and is normally pressed outwardl by means of acoil spring 21 which is sol ered or otherwise attached at its inner end to the plug 12 and at its outer end to the follower and this spring normally urges the discharge of an article contained within the holder, casual displacement of such article bein prevented by the retainer 17, but whic yields to admit of entrance or removal of the article by the application of sufficient force thereto,
