Be it known that I, WILLIAM HENRY CLEMENT, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Palacios, in the county of Matagorda and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trouble-Light Fixtures, of which the following is a specification. a

My invention relates to improvements in trouble light fixtures, and has for an object to provide a device of this character, that will positively obviate any danger of a trouble light becoming broken during its use.

Another object of my invention is to provide a trouble light fixture, whereby an ordinary light bulb and socket may be conveniently used as a trouble light, and which may be mounted in various places heretofore inaccessible.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a trouble light fixture, that is strong, durable, simple and inexpensive in construction, and that is well adapted for the use for which it is designed.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent during the course of the following description.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of my trouble light fixture in an assembled condition,

Figure 3 is a section taken substantially on line 33 of Fig. 1, the bulb being shown in end elevation.

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, thenumeral 5 designates any form of ordinary electric bulb socket, which is adapted to receive the bulb 6, which receives its current through the wire 7 which passes through thesocket 5.

My improved fixture comprises a body portion 8, which is provided with substantially semi-circular clamp member 9 extending therefrom. A similarsemi-circular clamp member 10 is adapted to be connected to the upper clamp member 9 by means of a removable bolt 11. The body portion 8 is formed at its forward end into a plurality of preferablytapered coils 12 which are adapted to encircle the bulb 6 and which diminish in size as they near the end as is clearly shown in Figure 1 of the drawing. The opposite end of the body portion 8, is bent upwardly forming the inturnedarm 13, to enable the portion 14: to pass over and around thesocket member 5, and the member 1 1 terminates in a plurality oftapered coils 15 which gradually increase in diameter so as to form a suitable base for the fixture. The wires 7 may either pass through or over the coils, or may pass between two of the coils anywhere along their links.

In use, my improved trouble light fixture is clamped by means of asemi-circular clamp members 9 and 10, and the bolts 11, on any .form of ordinary socket as is clearly shown in Figure 1 of the drawings, and the coils are adapted to encircle the bulb 6. The opposite end, that is thecoils 15 may be used as a stand, or if it is desired, the coil member may be used to support the same, very similarly as when a pencil is placed in a coil spring holder. It will thus be seen, that I have devised a trouble light fixture, that may be used in conjunction with an ordinary electric bulb and socket therefor, without any modifications to the bulb, or socket, and which will effectively form a support, and which may readily be applied and detached when it is so desired.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described, is to be taken as the preferred embodiment of the same, and that various changes in shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

A device of the class described including a structure formed from a single strand of material bent so as to include an elongated body portion, a pair of coils one at each end of the body portion, said coils being alined with each other and offset from the body, the body portion being substantially straight and provided intermediate its ends with an offset, a clamp member fixed to said oifset.
