This f invention *relates to an'- improved sash holder orloclr, and it has for one ot its principal objects',` to improve' upon the holder disclosed in Patent No. 1,097 ,1085k granted'to'me on May' l19, 1914.

Another object of the invention 'is to provide a holder of the Labove mentioned type which is simple in construction, such that after it is-once attached to asash the locking pawl will effectively engage the sash With which it coacts even if this sash moves slightly further away :troni the attaching member due to wear7 thus oveicoining the necessity 'of removing the' deviceto lchange its position to` accomplish the desired rcsult. f
A further object ot the invention is to generally 'improve upon devices ot this class by producing one oil extienie simplicity, which is highly ellicient in use, strong, duiable, and exceedingly inexpensive to manuvv facture.

it will be seen that thesel are inclined as iiidicated at l0 and these inclined edges torni cams which act in advance of the aforesaid lllhile on the description oi this tule-ruin pin 7, l may point out that if desired, it may be mounted in sucha way that it is capable oi' rotation.
'Bv such an arrangement, it will -be seen that the engagement of the cam edges l() et the locking pawlwvill tend to automatically rotate it and in so doing, the points of contact between the cani edges and pin willbel constantly changed and naturally, thekliice -ot the pin will be greatly prolonged.
Although the force ot gravity would aution, it is desirablein this case, asin iny patented case,to"niove it to operative position by means ot a coiled spring` 8, this 'spring surrounding the fulciuin pin and having one of its ends anchored to one of the arins l and its opposite end bearing against-the abutment pin l' as better shownA iii Fig. o. Employment oit'this spring will assist in moving the pivot pin inthe kslot 5. seen that llliave .devised an extremely' ad- `vantageous sash holder which is a' decided improvement over my patented device and all other prior art, devices with which l ainr familiar, since it permits independent .lon-f ygitudinalniovenient of the locking pawl, which is necessary under ksoiiie circumstances.
l again wish to empliasizethe fact that such movement oi? the locking pawl causes the same to more effectively grip the sash in case either of them is moved to open posi tion. rllhe device is automatic in operation and the locking pawl can lbe easily swung out oip operative position topermit the sash to be easily and readily moved to open position. Furthermore, the construction and arrangement Awhich l employ is eXtrefi simple and inexpensive and is such that rthe parts `may be readily. disconnected lier replacement and repairing.`
rfi careful consideration or the foregoing talren in connection with the accompanying drawings will enable persons skilled inthe art to which this invention relates to obtain a clear understanding othesame, therefore, a more lengthy description of the use and advantages of the device is thought unnecessary.
Since probably the best results may be obtained with 'thev construction` arrangement disclosed, take this construction and arrangementv as the preferred embodiment t' my invention. However, I wish it to be understood that various minor changes in the-shape7 size, andarrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing Aitrom the spirit ci' the invention or lthe scope orthe subjoined claims.
l claim: l. A window lock comprising an attaching member having a pijn constituting a itulcrum7 a sash engaging pawl connected with said member andA capable of 'longitudinali movement with respect thereto,y and cam coacting means vbetween the pawl and iiulcrum 'for causing said longitudinal movement.
2. A sash holder comprising an attaching member having a ulcrnmD and a locking pawl movable longitudinally with respect to said attaching member and being provided with' a portion for engaging one of the sashes and further provided with` an pivoted `to said member, 'the lower edge of said arm being curved to provide a cam surface which' bears on said fulcrum.
