T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Josnrn Ionian, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sagamore, in the county of Armstrong and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screen Doors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to screen doors and has for its object the provision of a screen door structure including swinging screen doors proper permanently hinged within a frame adapted to be applied bodily to a doorway, the advantage being that the screen doors proper and their supporting frame are a complete and separate entity which may be manufactured and sold as such. for ready application to a doorway and which may be secured in position merely by a plurality of nails or screws which hold the frame upon the door frame. it being thus unnecessary for the user to have to cut, lit and hang the doors as" is necessary in the use of the ordinary well known screen door.
An important object is the provision of a device of this character in which the pen manent frame of the screen doors proper is capable of being folded so that when the use of the structure is not desired and it is removed from the doorway it may be folded for storage in a small space or for convenience in transportation.
A further object is the provision of a structure of this character which includes two screen doors proper which have con;-
nectin means whereby they will both be opened when one is pushed against or pulled upon.
An additional object is the provision of a device of this character which will be simple and inexpensive in manufacture, highly efficient in use, durable in service and a general improvement in the art.
lVith the above and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consists in the details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Ordinarily screen doors are applied to such a frame in properly hanging the door and they have i the additional disadvantage of seriously marring the woodwork so as to leave it more or less unsightly after the screen door is taken down.

which eliminates the above mentioned diss advantages, 1 make use of a frame includingupright sides 10 to the upper ends of which is suitably secured across member 11 which is formed in sections hingedly connected,-
as indicated at 12. Disposed within the opening in the frame is, a pair of screen doors proper, indicated at 13, and formed of suitable frames covered with wire screen in the usual manner, these doors being hinged upon theuprights 10, as shown. at 1 1, and it will be apparent that these hinges may be of the type which will permit thedoors 13 to swing in only one direction or in both directions, this detail not forming an essential part of the invention.
Connected with the upper outer corners of thedoors 13 are thehorizontal arms 15 ofrods 16 which are journaled insuitable bearings 17 and which are formed between said bearings withcrank portions 18. Pivoted transversely at the center of thecross member 11 is arocker arm 19 with the ends of which are pivotally connectedlinks 20 which are in turn pivotally connected with thecrank portions 18. It is also preferable to provide acoil spring 21 connected with one of the crank portions and with a stud or the like projecting from thecross'menr ber 11 for the purpose of normally holding thedoors 13 in closed position.
When the door is manufactured and assembled it is intended that it may be shipped in folded position, that is with thecross bar 11 folded back upon itself on thehinges 12 and with thedoors 13 arranged one upon the other. This folding is not illustrated by hinging them directly upon one side and in the drawings as it is so obvious how it is effected. In applying the door it is of course necessary that it he unfolded so that the cross bar It]. will have both sections arranged in the same plane with thedoors 13 likewise arranged in thesame plane.
