Be it known that I, ANXIE S. TnUMnt'LL, citizen of the United States, residing at Yakima. in the county of Yakima and State of \Vashington, hav invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters. of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improved hose supporter and has as one of its principal objects to provide a device of this character which, when engaged with a hose. Will be locked thereto so that the possibility of the device becoming accidentalh unfastened will thus be edectually overcome.

The invention has as a furtherobjcct to provide a device which will not injure the hose and wherein no pull upon the hose will be required to maintain the deviceloclicd in engagement therewith.

Iind theinvention as a still further objectto provide a device which will be exceedingly simple in its construction and which may be readily engaged with a hose or disengaged therefrom.

In carrying the invention into effect, I employ an elastic strap 10 which may, as suggested in the drawing, be attached to a corset and connected to the lower end of this strap to form a loop is a buckle 11 adjustable for varying the effective length of the strap. Engaged 'ith the strap loop is a bail 12 and connected to said bail is a preferably non-elastic strap 13 which carries a preferably non-elastic button strap l-l secured to the rear side of the former strap adjacent its upper end. Freely connected to the strap 13 is the=booy plate 15 of the supporter and freelv connected to the strap it is thebutton 1 6 employed. opening when the ends of the strap are secured together. In the body plate is a longitudinally directed vertical eye 17, having rounded end edges. Formed from the button 16 medially thereof is a longitudinal bar 18 and, as will now be observed, thestrap 1% is looped around this bar from the rear side oi. the button when the ends of the strap are ln'ought together and secured to the strap 13, the overlapping portions of the strap 14: being connected innnediately adjacent the button for retaining the button at the lower end of the strap. The button is thus freely connected with the strap and preferably the strap is of a length to normally support the button, as particularly shown in Fig. 3, slightly below the lower end of the body plate.

In the drawing, 1 have shown the manner in which my improved supporter is engaged with a hose, the hose being conventionally illustrated at 19. As particularly brought out in Fig. 2, the body plate 15 of the device is placed againstthe outer face of the top of the hose when the button 16 is fitted through the eye 17 from the rear side of the body plate to carry the portion of the hose overlying the button through the eye, when the button is brought to a position extending transversely of the eye. The button will thus coact with the eye for retaining the device engaged with the hose and since the lower end portion of the body plate will lie against the outer side of the hose top while thestrap 1% will extend in the rear of the upper end portion of the body plate, it will be seen that no metal parts will come into contact with the leg of the wearer. In this connection, it may be stated that the body plate and button 16 are preferably constructed of suitable resilient sheet metal although, of course, any other approved material may be employed in forming these elements.

Attention is now directed to the fact that the button is of a width somewhat greater than the width of the eye 17 and is also of a length greater than the length of said eye. (lonse-(piently, the button cannot pass through the eye except by bringing the button into a position having the flat sides thereof lying substantially parallel to the length of the eye and moving the button endwise through the eye. Accordingly, when the device is engaged with a hose in the manner indicated,

the possibility of the accidental rearw rd a minimum stress upon the portion of the hose extending through the eye 17 will occur. Thus, as will be appreciated, the device will not abra-de or otherwise injure the hose. WVhile I have indicatedthat the present device is particularly designed for use as a hose supporter still, the device may also be cnqiloyedas a supporting element for overalls or other garments, Further, the device may be used in lieu of safety pins on childrens waists, for supporting draping materials or for fastening curtains on automobiles; I do not, therefore, wish to be limited to the particular adaption of the invention shown but reserve the right to all such varlations as may fall within the spirit of the appended claim.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

In a hose supporter, the combination of a rigid oblong. body plate having a medial longitudinally directed eye, a supporting strap engaged at one end with said plate, a rigid oblong button having a medial longitudinally directed bar, and a supporting strap depending from the first strap and engaged with said bar normally supporting the button with its length disposed transversely of said eye, the button being of a length greater than the length of the eye and of a width greater than the width of the eye whereby the button can be retracted through the eye only by twisting the latter strap and moving the button 'endwisewith its width disposed longitudinally of the eye In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
