Description

F. c@ MORSE HIP BRASSITERE ATTACHMENT FOR CORSETS.
APPLICATION FTLED APR. 2, 1919.
Patented Oct. 21, L919.
INVENTOR f/m/A/Y C No A A TTORNEYS For.
as. 4g WWW HIP-BRASSTERE ATTACHMENT FOR CORSETS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, FANNY CHERRY Monsn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved l-Iip-Brassiere Attachment for Corsets, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to corsets, and its object is to provide a new and improved hip brassiere attachment for corsets arranged to overlie the corset at the back and hips below the waistline with a view to present a smooth foundation for the back of the outer garment to overlie. and thereby assuring a proper hang of the garment and an exceediii-gly close, glove-like it of the same to the wearers body. Another object is to permit the owner of a corset to readily attach the brassiere to the corset.-
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claim.
A, practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specifi -ation. in which similar characters of reference indicate correspending;- parts in all the views.
Figure l is a rear face view of the hip b1: ssiere shown in position on the corset. parts being in extended position;
Fig. 2 is a rear View of the corset and hip brassiere in position on the wearer; and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged face view of a.
modified form of the hip brassiere more especially deslgned for use on corsets worn by stout women. part of the brassiere being shown broken out.
Thecorset 10 is made of the usual two parts 11 and 12 fastened together at the back by a lacing The parts 11 and 12 are provided at the front edges with the usual fastening devices 1 a. d 15 for closing; and opening the corset. Thebrassiere 20 is attached to the back and sides of thecorset 10 below the waistline thereof with the lower edge of the brassiere conformingapproximately to the lower edge the back and sides of thecorset 10, as plainly indicated in Figs. it and 2.llhe brassiere 20 is erably formed of an elastic band provided at its ends with attaching member Specification of Letters rater it. ji 'mtgntgd @QL 2 1 193% Serial No. 28-6fi20.
and 23 of inelastic material and of which the part is attached at its ends bystitches 24 to the corset part 11 while the other attaching member 23 is made in twoparts 25. 26, of which thepart 26 is attached bystitches 27 to the corset part 12. The parts and 26 are adapted to be fastened together by hooks and eyes or other similar fastening means 28 which permit of detaching the part :25 from thepart 26 of the end member 23 thus allowing opening and closing of the brassiere :20. I
In practice thebrassiere 20 is under tension when the corset is worn. in donning the corset, the brassiere 520 is opened, that is thepart 25 is detached from the part to allow of placing the corset in position on the wearers body and to tighten the same to the desired degree by the use of the lacing 13. connecting the part with thepart 26 by the use of thefastening devices 2%, and, as previously stated, theelastic band 21 forming the body of the brassicre is now under tension. .lt will be noticed that by the arraiigement described the brassierb lends to give the proper shape to the body of the wearer at the back and hips below the waistline and hence when the outer garment in position on the wearers body it hangs properly and fits closely to the wearers body. in order to prevent thebrassiere 20 from accidental upward movement, the lower edge of theband 21 is provided with depending hose supportingstraps 30 havingclasps 31 adaptedto engage the wearers hose at the rear thereof. The brassiere is reinforced with suitable vertically disposed stays in the manner of corset construction.
For stout women thebrassiere 20 is pref.-
erably provided at the middle of itselastic body 40 with an inelastic portion 41 but otherwise the construction of the brassiere is the same as above described relative to the one shown in l and 2.
l do not limit myself to the means of opening and closing the brassiere or attach ing' the same to the corset as the same may be varied without deviating from my in vention.
Having; thus described my invention, T claim as new and desire to secure by Let Patentcin combination, a corset having a lacing at the back and a flexible hip brassirc en Thebrassiere 20 is then closed byliltl 10 side thereof, the other attaching member being made of two parts arranged one along side the other and of which the inner part issecured to the said band the outer parthaving its outer edge stitched to the other side of the corset, and fastening devices arranged 1 along the adjacent edges of. the said parts to detachahly connect the parts with each other and to hold the elastic band under tension when the hra'ssiere is in use.
