SHOWER-BATH ATTACHMENT.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, AUGUST F. Luzzi, a citizen of the United States, residing at Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shower-Bath Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a. shower bath attachment.

The object of the invention is to provide an attachment of the character described which may be readily attached to and detached from the ordinary bath tub faucet.

Another object of the invention resides in the provision of an attachment of the character described which may be easily attached to a plurality of faucets with which a bath tub, to which both cold and hot water is supplied, is provided irrespective of the distance which said faucets may be located apart.

A. further feature of the invention resides in the provision of an attachment which will permit the bath tub to be used in the ordinary way without detaching the same from the faucet.

A still further feature of the invention resides in the provision of a stand pipe to which a plurality of spray nozzles are secured, said nozzles being adjustable so that the water sprayed therethrough may be directed in any manner desired.

With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts and use, an eframple of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts, in each of the figures the numeral 1 refers to a bath tub, which, in Figs. 1 and 2 is shown equipped with single faucets as 3 and 4 respectively.

ends of the U-bolts 14, 14 are secured, said bolts engaging against, and resting in the notch 12 in, the corresponding latch 11 and clamping theconnection 7 securely to the faucet. Y

ln Fig. 1, a single faucet and single connection are shown, thestand pipe 5 being threaded into the free end of the connection. In this form the end of the connection adjacent the faucet is provided with a later-V ally extending plate 15 and aU-bolt 16 is secured to said plate and engages around the valve shaft bearing and clamps the connection in position with respect to the faucet.

Thestand pipe 5 has arranged at intervals therealongtubular joints 20, connecting the sections of said pipe and seated in these joints are the hollowcylindrical valves 21, which fit closely therein and integral with the respective valve ends are thehollow arms 22, which project forwardly into alinement with the bath tub and carry thespray nozzles 24. Each of thevalves 21 is provided with an orifice as 25, the orifice of the lower one being arranged at the upper side and the orifices of the others being arranged at the lower side of said valves. Whenrthese orifices are brought into alinement with the passageway through the stand pipe and the water is turned on through the faucets, it will pass up through said stand pipe and through said orifices and be sprayed out through said nozzles. The orifice of the lower valve is arranged in the upper side so that' the direct pressure will not cause too strong a current through the lower nozzle but the water will be forced therethrough by back pressure only and the orifice of the upper valve is enlarged because the pressure at this point is the weakest. By-passes 26 are provided around thevalves 21, excepting the upper one so as to permit the water to reach all of the nozzles through thestand pipe 5.

It is apparent that the water may be cut off from the upper nozzles by elevating said nozzles to the position shown in Fig. 2, carrying the orifices out of alinement with the passageway through the stand pipe and in a similar manner 'the water may be cut oii' from thelower nozzle 24 by lowering said nozzle. lV hen the nozzles are brought into horizontal position as shown in Fig. l the oriiices will be in alinement with the passageway through thestand pipe 5 and water will be discharged through said noz zle. Eachconnection 7 has an orifice 27 cut through the under side thereof, which is normally closed by thecap 28. vi/Then it is desired to use the bath tub in the ordinary way the water may be cut oil from the nozzles i-'l in the manner hereinbefore described and thc plug removed and the water will thus be discharged directly into thetub.

2. in a device of the character described a stand pipe, having a plurality of sockets therein, spaced apart and forming bearings, the inner walls of said bearings being provided with groofves forming ley-passes, hollowV rotatable members fitted into said respective sockets each member having an oriiice through the wall thereof, the orifice of the lower one being through its upper wali, a hollow arm integral with each member by the movement of which the orifice of the corresponding member may be brought into and out of alinement with the passageway through said pipe, and flow of water through said arm thereby controlled, and a spray nozzle carried by the free end of each arm.
