Description

L. im( Go'o'mwuZ CATAMENIAL SACK.
APPLICATION lFILED CCY. l5. 19l4.
@Manned @ein 26, 19M.
:Louise nurseries@ eoonnou', ci" :new sono, n'. in` l l @Specification of icttere l-Fetent.
y meenten oet.' ec, leise eminentesmacminer terreni. sereine.cosmic.'v 1 y f hatten, .in the county and Ste-te of New "forli, have invented a nevi7 and improved (iii Cetemenial Pieck, of which the following is a hill., clear, and exact description.
The object ci the invention 1s to provide s, new and improved cutaineniel seek arranged to detachebly support a napkin and to .protect the Wearei`s underwear against soiling.
ln order to accomplish the desired result use is made of e napkin support provided with means for detachebly supporting a isophie; a belt to which the ends of the said sup'icrt are detecbably secured5 protecting flops extending outward from the sides of the said support and'adapted to fit the legs oi the wearer, end retaining means at one end of the said deps and adopted to be passed uround the wearers legs to be attached to the other end of tbe said flaps.
A practical embodiment oi the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming e part oi' this specification, in which siiuiler characters of reference indiofite corresponding; parte in all the views.
Figure l is e front perspective view of the ceteinenial seek 'es applied; Fig. 2 is a rear perspective View of the same; Fig. 3 is a perspective view ci? the lmitaineniel sack; e is a pien view o the support end its deps in extended position; and Fig. 5 is an enlerged cross .section oiA the catemenial sack Witlifa napkin in position thereon.
The support 'A is preferably formed oil e piece or strip of cotton, linen or like fabric materialj overlaid by a piece A of a moisl 'ture-prooi material such as rubberized or impervious cloth, the said piece A being secured along its side edges by a binding A2 enter'idii-1gi"alll around the support lire 'The piece il. terminates et its ends a distance -rom the rounded ofi' ends A3 of the support -A., und the said ends il are fastened by se''ety pins or other fastening devices AB to tabs C depending frointhe front and rear of e suitable belt D of elastic vor non-elastic material to. suit the convenience oi the wearer. ALoops E extend across the upper fece of the support A. at the ends of the piece A and the vends of the loops are'festened in piece et binding A. A folded napkin,' absorbent iced or other ebsorbing means F .is edapted to be placed on top of the pieceiA of lthe support Ai, and the ends ofthe said ebsorbing means l'are passed under the loops E to hold the ,seid absorbing means in'posig tion on the support A., as plainly indicated in Figsand 5.
"lo the sides eithe supporte` at the mid-'HL die. portionthereof are securedy protecting Aflaps G, G of rubberized or impervious clothand adapted to enga'g vthe legs of thewearer, as plainly shown in' vl and 2, to vprotect the underwear of the wearer from bein soiled. The flaps Gr, G are provided Wit suitable bindings G2. To the rear ends of the flaps Gr, G are secured bands or straps H, l-l, preferably two for each flap and preler'abl made of en elastic material-' ,'lhe straps lll/9 H' :ire adapted to be passed-'around the legs of the wearer and the front ends of the said straps are adapted to be fastened to the front ends of the flaps Gr, G by the use of suitable fastening devices l such as buttons end buttonlioles, or stud 'and socket niembers, as indicated in the drawings. By the arrangement described the' protecting, flops G36/ are held snugly against the legs of the wearer Without being uncomfortable, and when the flaps ore. in this position they properly protect the wearer-s underwear against beings,l soiled. ln order to insure a proper fitting of the protecting lapsG, G around the legs the inner edges ofthe ends of the said flaps G, Gr ure curved outward end are detached from the support A, thus allowing" the said inner free edges ci' the ends of the flaps (l, G to lit the groin of the wearer :it the front and to extend over the sides of the buttocks at the rear without the least danger of binding or chafing.
lt will be noticed that in terminating th piece A a distance from the ends A3 of the support A the said ends A are left soft and unobstructed for convenient attachment oi the safety pins B. y
ln using the device, the wearer first puts on the belt andthen attaches 4 the rear end of the support A to the rear tab C, after which the support A is passed between the legs to the front and attaehed to the front tab C. The wearer next 'passes the straps H, H around the les,r at the outside thereof and astens the free ends of the straps to the front ends of the protectixngF flaps G, Gr to hold the latter in protectin; position on the legs, shown in Figs. l and 2.
Having thus described my invention, l
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A catamenial sack,'comprising a support made of a fiat strip of textile material overlaid by an impervious cloth, the ends of the strip being provided with means for detachably holding an absorbing means in position on the support, a belt to which the ends of the said support are detachably secured, protecting flaps of impervious cloth extending from the sides of the said support at the middle thereof, the ends of the flaps being detached from the support and the said flaps being adapted to fit the wearers legs, and means for holding the said protecting fiaps in position on the wearers legs.
2. A catamenial sack, comprising a band like support for an absorbing means, a belt having depending tabs at the front and rear and to which the ends of the said support are detaehably secured, protecting flaps extending froln the sides of the middle portion of the said support and adapted to fit the legs of the wearer, the said flaps having their ends Icurved outward and detached from the sides of the support, and fastening Straps attached tolthe ends of the said protecting flaps and adapted to pass around the wearer`s legs to hold the said flaps in position on the legs.
