Speocation of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 24., 1914.
Application tiled July 7, 1913. Serial No. 777,857.
To all Qbhom t may concern: 4
Be it known that I, CARL A. Wiss, a citizen of the United States, residin at West Fort Dodge, in the county of We ster and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Door-Hangers, of which theollowing is a specification.
This invention relatesJ to improvements in door hanger and its object is to produce provided with a plurality of anti-friction elements which are adjustable and which rotate in a plane at right angles to the plane of movement of the door and which may obtain a bearing upon the adjustable runn the drawings which accompany the specification and are a part of the same:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved door in position upon a freight car. Fig. 2 is a similar view with the pates that cover the movable partsr removed. Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4: is a detail, partly in section, of the antifriction elements. Fig. 5 is a detail taken on line 5 5 of Fig. 3. Fig. 6 is a section taken on line 6-6 of Fig. 4.-.
Like reference characters indicate correspending Vparts throughout the several. views.
1 is the side of a freight car provided with longitudinallyextendlng angle irons 24 and 3, each of which carry, respectively, longitudinally extending angle irons It and 5; theangle irons 2 and 4 are adjustable with relation to each other as shown at 5 and theangle irons 3 and 5 are adjustable with relation to each other as shown at 6, the
two sets of angle irons forming an adjustable runway in whch.my door is disposed. My door is carried uponrollers 7 that travel upon the runway and that are secured in bearings 8 made fast to the door. Theplate 9, which is a part of the bearing 8, is formed withelongated slots 10 for the accommodation of bolts 11 upon which rollers `l2 are carried that rotate in a plane at right angles to the plane of the door and that obtain a bearing upon the sides of the runway.
To the top of the door aplate 13 is secured which is formed with elongated slots 14 to accommodatebolts 15, which are movable laterally in said slots, ,and upon saidbolts rollers 16 are disposed that may obtain a bearin upon the sides of the runway. F or a oor of greater thickness than the one illustrated it 1s but necessary to adjust the angle irons 4 and 5 with relation to theangle irons 2 and 3. The angle irons and movable parts of the door may be covered and protected from dust or from injury by asuitable plate 17 secured to the side of the car.
What is claimed is:-
In a door hanger, longitudinally extending angle irons arranged in pairs, the members of each pair being adjustable with relation to each other, a door provided with rollers operatively associated with one pair of said angle irons and anti-friction elements carried by said door adapted to obtain a bearing u on said angle irons.
In testimony t at I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
