NANNIE M. TATE, OF MOCKSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA.
ADJUSTABLE RECEPTACLE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NANNIE M. TATE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mocksville, in the county of Davie, State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Receptacles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in longitudinally adjustable receptacles specially adapted for use in connection with ironing boards.
An object of this invention is the provision of a receptacle such as described which may be adjusted to conform to the length of any ordinary ironing board.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a device of the nature described with means for suspending the device beneath the ironing board to prevent the clothes from engaging the floor and becoming soiled.
A further object of this invention is to improve and simplify devices of this charac ter, rendering them comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and etlicient in use and readily operated.
lVith the above and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formations, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a top plan view of my invention applied. Fig. 2 is a. side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1, the ironing board being omitted. Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 44 of Fig. 1 with the board omitted. Fig. 5- is an end View of my invention.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by similar characters of reference throughout the several views, thenumerals 10 and 11 designate generally a pair of supports upon which rests anironing board 12.
My improvedreceptacle 13 is located beneath theironing board 12 and extends longitudinally thereof, being supported by a pair of longitudinally adjustabletelescopical rods 14 which are engaged at their opposite ends by the said ironing board sup- Specification of Letters Patent.

galvanized or otherwise treated to prevent any undesired rusting or injury thereto caused by their becoming moistened.
Thesection 16 which is slidably located within thesection 15 is formed in its opposite sides with a pair of longitudinally extending slots 17 through which project the threaded projections 18, the said projections having nuts thereon and being carried by the sides ofthesection 15 and permitting of the sliding movement of thesaid section 16 therein and at the same time holding the same against any undesired displacement.
A pin 19 extendsvertically from the forward edge of the bottom of thesection 15 intermediate the longitudinal edges thereof and extends through a slot 20 formed in the bottom of thesection 16. This pin 19 is threaded for engagement with a nut 21 by means of which thesections 15 and 16 are held against any undesired longitudinal movement with respect to each other.
Straps 22 are secured to the sides of thesections 15 and 16 as clearly illustrated in the drawings, and are formed at their free ends withloops 23 which surround therods 14 and retain the receptacle below theiron ing board 12 permitting the longitudinal movement of thesections 15 and 16.
Obviously when theironing board 12 is placed upon thesupports 10 and 11 and the opposite ends of therods 14 placed upon the said supports at each side of the board, thereceptacle 13 will be located in spaced relation to and beneath the ironing board in such position as to receive the loose ends of the clothing which is being ironed, thesaid sections 15 and 16 being adjustable so as to conform to the length of any customary ironing board. It will also be understood that therods 14 are properly adjusted before being placed upon thesupports 10 and 11.
From the foregoing disclosure taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it will be manifest that a receptacle and suspending means for use with ironing boards is provided which will fulfil all of the necessary requirements of such a device.
Having thus fully described this invenfor locking the sections against independent tion What I claim as new and desire to promovement to retain the receptacle in adtect by Letters Patent, is: justed condition.
