SHELF-FRAME.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July so, 1912.
Application filed October 25, 1911. Serial No. 656,623.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SIEGFRIED HAUsER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Strassburg, in Alsace-Lorraine, Germany, have invented new and useful Im provements in Shelf-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a shelf frame hav ing shelves adapted to be adjustable at any height in which the shelf brackets are provided with lugs which engage with opposite sides of the supporting member at various heights.
The subject of the present invention is characterized from known construction in that the arms of the supporting posts inclosed by the lugs ofthe shelf bracket have a wedge-shaped cross section and the lugs themselves are made springy so that they elastically press upon the wedge-shaped sides of the supporting posts and in this manner the shelf bracket can be kept in any desired position without special toothed fastening arrangement being necessary for securing the shelves at the desired position.
In the drawing: Figures 1 to 3 show a side View, front elevation, and plan view respectively of a shelf bracket clipped on to a supporting post according to the present invention.
In the shelf arrangement shown, the posts a are beveled ofl' toward the longer side.
The lugs 0, cl of the shelf bracket 0 engage over the wedge-shaped surfaces 1) at dif ferent heights and on opposite sides. The lugs c, d are formed springy and the distance they lie from the support 6 is somewhat smaller than the thickness of the arm or projection b of the support 6 so that they engage around this in order to prevent a sliding down of the shelf when this is strongly loaded.
The shelf or bracket according to the present invention can be used for securing shelves at any desired height in cupboards, showcases and the like.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
In a device of the class described, in combination, a standard provid d with front and rear wedge-shaped portions, and a bracket adjustably supported on said stand ard, said bracket being provided with laterally projecting spring clips adapted to engage said wedge-shaped portions.
