Abstract

Microwave antenna unit 2 adapted to direct a non-ionizing electromagnetic input wave energy, within a pre-selected wide band frequency range, to tissue and to detect wave energy reflected by said tissue. The microwave antenna is a multi-layer arrangement comprising first layers 10,12,14 provided with directional couplers, second layers 16 provided with coupling means and a third layer 18 provided with a predetermined number of antenna patch elements.
