Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure smooth and highly efficient document editing jobs by performing automatically page inserting processes to store overflowed characters into inserted pages in case the characters overflows a page at insertion of characters. CONSTITUTION:When the overflow of characters is recognized, the document information on the next and subsequent pages of a character code buffer S-BUF is moved to the back side by an extent equal to the size of one page set previously by a format setting action, etc. Based on said document movement, an intra-page control table P-TBL is updated together with a graphic information block control table PC-TBL, and an image information control table IMG-TBL respectively. Thus an inserting page is produced through the insertion of a page and the inserting character strings stored in a work buffer are shifted into a new page. Thus the character inserting process is finished. In such a way, the relative positional relation is never deteriorated between characters and patterns in the subsequent pages even though a page has the overflow of characters due to addition of characters.
