Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide superconductor with a high critical temperature and a high critical current density by composing a metal tube or a core material in an oxide superconductor which has the oxide superconductor at the inner side of the tube body or at the outer side of the core material, with a porous sintered metallic material. CONSTITUTION:A tube body 1 is made of a porous sintered metal which is made by pressing and forming a good conductive metal powder of Cu, a Cu alloy, or the like, and sintering the resultant cylindrical formation, and its porosity is preferable to be 10 to 40 %. To the tube body 1, an oxide superconductive power 2 shown as the formula A-B-Cu-O (where A is one or more of the periodic table IIIa group elements, and B is one or more of the periodic table IIa group elements) or its precursor powder is filled. Then a diameter contraction process is applied to gain a desired diameter of the wire material. And after heating the wire material in an oxygen atmosphere at about 900 to 1000 deg.C, it is cooled gradually to the room temperature, to obtain a superconductor. The superconductor is produced by feeding a sufficient oxygen to the powder by permeating through minute pores in the tube body 1. And by composing the tube body 1 with a sintered metallic material of Cu or a Cu alloy, it is sintered at the temperature of the melting point of silver or higher in the oxygen atmosphere, and an oxide superconductor with a high critical current density and a high critical temperature can be obtained.
