Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance strength, bending recovery quantity in a lateral direction, a compression ratio, softness and flexibility, by forming the layer composed of a high m.p. thermoplastic resin of the staple fiber of the heat-bondable open yarn constituting both upper and lower layers or the lower layer from an ethylene/propylene block copolymer and heat-treating an elastic absorbing body to integrate the same with said layer. CONSTITUTION:An absorbing body has a sandwich structure consisting of upper and lower layers each composed of a mixture (blended cotton) of ground pulp 11 and the staple fibers 12 of a heat bondable open yarn and an intermediate layer composed of a polymer water absorbent 13 and obtained by integrating all of the layers by heat-treatment. The high m.p. thermoplastic resin being one of the components constituting the both upper and lower layers or lower layer of the elastic absorbing body is pref. composed of an ethylene/propylene block copolymer containing 4-10wt.% of ethylene/propylene rubber in both upper and lower layers or lower layer of the elastic absorbing body. With respect to the compositional ratio of the respective layers of the elastic absorbing body, the staple fibers of the heat-bondable open fiber are 70-95wt.% in the upper layer and 20-60wt.% in the lower layer and the ground pulp is 5-30wt.% in the upper layer and 40-80wt.% in the lower layer.
