CONSTITUTION:The managing device of a flexible disk registers a file name recorded on the flexible disk FD as an index by relating it to a housing position when housing the disk FD, and also, displays the housing position by flashing a light emitting diode LD. Meanwhile, the disk FD housed in a housing rack is retrieved at the time of retrieval, and the housing position is informed by flashing the diode LD. At this time, since a line is described on a sheet 15 extending over from the diode LD to the housing part 10, it is possible to specify the housing position of the disk FD easily. Therefore, no erroneous recognition for the housing position or a take-out position is generated. As a result, it is possible to improve the reliability or operability of a device as the managing device of the disk FD remarkably.
