Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the high speed switching of a large magnetic field by making windings, which oppose against each other as interposing an optical magnetic disk, into thin film coils, formed in spiral shapes on high permeability magnetic bodies through insulation layers respectively. CONSTITUTION:A thin film electromagnet for impressing magnetic field for the optical magnetic disk is constituted of a thin film high permeability magnetic body 2, which has a cylindrical thin film high permeability magnetic body 9, around which a thin film coil 7 is wound, at one end of it, and the thin film high permeability magnetic body 1, which is installed so as to oppose against the above-mentioned magnetic body 2 as interposing the said coil 7 and the optical disk 11, and has the spiral-shaped thin film coil 8, pattern-etched around a cylindrical hollow part 21, at one end of it. Further, the thin film high permeability magnetic body 3 to couple the magnetic bodies 1 and 2 magnetically is provided. Here, the magnetic bodies 1-3 are formed on non-magnetic base plates. According to this constitution, because the inductance of coil can be made to be an extremely small value, the high speed switching of the large magnetic field comes possible.
