Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at the miniaturization of a supercharger and improvement in accelerating responsiveness by setting an intake-exhaust overlap period in a supercharging cylinder group to be larger than that in a natural intake cylinder group. CONSTITUTION:Firing order is as follows; a first cylinder 1a, a third cylinder 1c, a fourth cylinder 1d and a second cylinder 1b. A natural intake cylinder group is constituted of both first and fourth cylinders 1a, 1d unadjacent in the firing order, and a supercharging cylinder group is constituted of both second and third cylinders 1b and 1c. As for these supercharged cylinders 1b, 1c, their intake-exhaust overlap period is set to be longer than that of these natural suction cylinder 1a, 1d.
