Abstract

PURPOSE:To extract simultaneously a horizontal profile signal and a vertical profile signal and to use a 1H or 2H delay circuit with a luminance signal separator circuit in common by employing an adjacent sample point the same as a sample point concerned in phase and executing the secondary differentiation in horizontal and vertical directions on a scope. CONSTITUTION:An analog composite video signal from a terminal 1 is sampled at every pluse periof T from a sampling pulse generator circuit 12 by means of an A/D converter circuit 2 provided outside a profile extracting filter 11 and applied to an adder circuit 7 of the filter 11 and a delay circuit 5-5 for giving 4T delay. Moreover the output of the circuit 5-5 is delayed by H-2T delay circuits 5-7 and 5-8, while the output of the delay circuit 5-8 is delayed by 4T with the aid of a delay circuit 5-5. Outputs of the circuits 5-5, 5-8 and 5-6 are applied to the circuit 7, and simultaneously the output of the circuit 5-7 is multiplied by -4 in a coefficient circuit 6 to apply to the circuit 7. It uses an adjacent sampling point the same phase as that concerned, secondarily differentiates it in horizontal and vertical directions on a scope, and outputs horizontal/vertical profile signals at the same time.

BACKGROUND ART Various methods for extracting contour signals from image information have been proposed from various fields. For example, in a television receiver, horizontal and vertical contour signals are extracted from a luminance signal, and the extracted horizontal and vertical contour signals are added to the original luminance signal to improve the sharpness of the image. Let me explain this in a little more detail.

Conventionally used contour extraction filters of this type, whether analog or digital, separate the luminance signal Y(t> from the composite video signal 5(t) and extract the separated luminance signal Generally, a horizontal contour signal is obtained from Y(t) using a horizontal contour extraction filter, and a vertical contour signal is obtained using a vertical contour extraction filter.

The analog video signal applied to the input terminal 1 is sampled at a predetermined frequency f by the A/D conversion circuit 2 and converted into a digital composite video signal. The YC separation circuit 3 supplies only the luminance signal component of the digitally converted composite video signal to the horizontal contour extraction filter 8 . Now, the time t when the luminance signal rB) which is the output signal of the VC separation circuit 3 is reached.

Since the adder circuit 7 adds all the input signals and outputs the result, the luminance signal given to the output terminal 4 of the horizontal contour extraction filter is f (nT') -2f ((n-1)T) + f
((n-2)T). This represents the second-order differential with respect to the luminance signal r (horizontal frequency component in the horizontal direction on the screen of t>). Therefore, the horizontal high frequency component of the luminance signal, that is, the horizontal contour signal is extracted.

FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a conventional digital vertical contour extraction filter. In FIG. 2, the external circuit of the vertical contour extraction filter is similar to the external circuit of the horizontal contour extraction filter of FIG. and,
The YC separation circuit 3 receives the signal from the A/D conversion circuit 2 and outputs only the luminance signal component. (n T-H) +f (n T-28).

The configuration is a superposition of the horizontal contour extraction filter L shown in FIG. 1 and the vertical contour extraction filter L shown in FIG. The coefficient values of 6 are different. That is, a delay circuit 5-5 whose delay time is one horizontal scanning time minus the sampling period time (hereinafter referred to as H-T), a delay circuit 5-1 whose delay time is T, and a delay circuit 5-1 whose delay time is T. delay circuit 5-2
and a delay circuit 5-6 having a delay time (H-T) are connected in series with each other in this order. In addition, the contour extraction filter 10
are a coefficient circuit 6 that receives a signal from a delay circuit 5-1 and multiplies its value by 14, a VC separation circuit 3, a delay circuit 5-5, a coefficient circuit 6, a delay circuit 5-2, and a delay circuit 5-6. and an adder circuit 7 that receives and adds signals from and. That is, the upper horizontal/vertical contour extraction filter is a vertical contour extraction filter composed of a delay circuit 5-5, a delay circuit 5-1, a delay circuit 5-2, a delay circuit 5-6, a coefficient circuit 6, and an adder circuit 7. A horizontal contour extraction filter including a filter, a delay circuit 5-1, a delay circuit 5-2, a coefficient circuit 6, and an adder circuit 7 is superimposed. Therefore, if this horizontal/vertical contour extraction filter 10 is used, horizontal contour signals and vertical contour signals can be extracted simultaneously. Further, in the horizontal/vertical contour extraction filter having this configuration, it can be considered that calculation of second-order differential in diagonal directions on the screen is also performed, and contour signals in diagonal directions on the screen can also be extracted.

As mentioned above, conventional contour extraction circuits extract contour signals using only the luminance signal component. Therefore, a one-day delay circuit (delay circuit that delays the trout signal for one horizontal scan) is required for the luminance signal/chrominance signal separation circuit that separates the composite video signal into a luminance signal and chrominance signal, and a horizontal/vertical contour extraction filter is required. This has the disadvantage that it cannot be shared with a one-day delay circuit, which inevitably increases costs.

(H-2T) The sample value of the sample point P5 given by the delay circuit 5-7 is multiplied by 14 by the coefficient circuit 6 and then given to the adder circuit 7, and the sample value of the sample point P9 given by the A/D conversion circuit 2 is
The sampled values of and the sampled values given by the other delay circuits 5-5.5-7.5-8 are given to the adder circuit 7 as they are. Therefore, since the adder circuit 7 adds all its input signals and outputs the result, the signal that the adder circuit 7 gives to the multiplier circuit 13 is the sample value of the sample point P9) + (the sample value of the sample point P7) + (I

As is clear from FIG. 5, these equations represent the second-order differentials of the composite video signal sequence in the vertical, horizontal, and diagonal directions on the screen. Since the sample space occupied by the reference sample point is minute, changes in the color signal within this sample space can be practically ignored. Therefore, at sample points where the color subcarrier phase is the same, the sample value of the color signal is be the same. Therefore, in the above equation, the chrominance signal component will be canceled, resulting in the luminance signal vertically on the screen.

That is, vertical, horizontal, and diagonal contour signals are extracted. The extracted contour signal is applied to the multiplication circuit 13, multiplied by N in the multiplication circuit 13, and then applied to the output terminal 4. The value of the multiplier N is a can indicating the degree of contour correction, and the desired value is an external one such as a microcomputer (not shown).
It will be IIIJIl.

To extract the luminance signal from the #+Ii image signal, a signal having an appropriate delay time is extracted from a delay circuit included in the contour signal extraction filter U using a tap or the like, and YC separation is performed. Note that although the sampling pulse frequency t is set to four times the color subcarrier frequency fsG in the *example described above, it is not limited to four times the color subcarrier frequency fsG. Any sampling frequency may be used as long as the phases of the color subcarriers are aligned in a line with opposite phases to each other in the vertical direction on the screen.

[Effects of the Invention] As described above, according to the contour extraction filter according to the present invention, a contour signal is directly extracted from a composite video signal using adjacent sample points whose color subcarrier phase is the same as that of the sample point of interest. Since it is configured to extract a contour signal consisting of a horizontal contour signal, a vertical contour signal, and a diagonal contour signal, it is possible to accurately extract a contour signal consisting of a horizontal contour signal, a vertical contour signal, and a diagonal contour signal.
H or 2H [Extension circuit can be shared.
