Abstract

PURPOSE:To separate a reading pen from the body of a device completely and to move the reading pen on paper with simple handling by transmitting reading information between the electronic reading pen and a receiving adaptor through any one of an optical, a radio and an ultrasonic means. CONSTITUTION:Character pattern information on the paper which is converted by a photoelectric converting circuit 27 is radiated as optical ON/OFF information by a light emitting diode 23. A movement extent of the electronic reading pen and control information are radiated as ON/OFF information of the light from a light emitting diode 24. A photodetecting circuit including a photoelectric converter 33 having spectrum sensitivity corresponding to the light emitting diode 23 through an optical filter 32 and a photoelectric converter 35 having spectrum sensitivity corresponding to the light emitting diode 24 through an optical filter 34 is constituted in a photodetecting adaptor 31. The photodetecting adaptor 31 is connected with the electronic reading pen storage and display device through a cable 36 and a plug 34.

However, in conventional electronic pen devices, it is necessary to connect the character pattern information signal and the electronic pen movement distance signal from the pen-like object to the interface port with memory and control circuit, or the I10 port of the microcomputer. Three conductive lines are extended and connected to a boat or microcomputer placed on a pen, desk, etc.

The light-receiving adapter 31 includes a light-receiving circuit including all photoelectric conversion elements 33 having spectral sensitivities corresponding to the light-emitting diode 23 via an optical filter 32, and a light-emitting diode 24 in the center.
A light receiving circuit 31 including a photoelectric conversion element 35 having a spectral sensitivity corresponding to that of the light emitting diode 24 is formed through an optical filter 34 having a transmission characteristic corresponding to that of the light emitting diode 24, and an electronic reading pen storage display device 11. is connected to the cable 3 with a plug 37. The storage display device including the keyboard 13 does not need to be placed in the center of the desk when the electronic reading pen 21 is used, but is placed at the back of the desk. Since the light receiving adapter 31 does not need to be moved while the electronic reading pen 21 is in use, its orientation can be fixed at a location where it can easily receive light from the light emitting diode of the electronic reading pen 21. The shape of the light-receiving adapter 31 is exemplary, and may be a rectangular parallelepiped container.
