Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an aromatic polysulfone semipermeable membrane having superior filtration efficiency and a high water permeation rate by using a specific casting solvent and using water as a solidifying bath.
CONSTITUTION: In obtaining a semipermeable membrane consisting of the aromatic polysulfone consisting of the repetitive units of the formulaIor II, a mixture of 95W30wt% N-methylpyrolidone and/or 2-pyrolidone and 5W70wt. sulforane is used as a casting solvent. Water is used as a solidifying bath. In producing the membrane, the mixed solns. of the aromatic polysulfone and the casting solvent are cast on a glass plate, and are immersed together with glass plate in water. The gelled membrane peeled from the glass plate is recovered.
