Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the excessive progression of the conglomeration of powder cation and anion exchange resins by supplying a 0.01W0.06wt% water-base slurry of powder ion exchange resin to a filter or desalter and performing precoating.
CONSTITUTION: A suitable amount of pure water is filled in a resin feed tank 8 and an agitator 9 is started. A predetermined amount of an anion exchange resin is charged under thorough agitation, thereafter a predetermined amount of a cation exchange resin is charged and water is added to control the 0.01W0.06wt% resin concn. These are mixed thoroughly in about 20min. A vessel 1 is used as a filter or a desalter, and a pump 5 is started, then a valve 17 is opened. A precoating agent holding body 3 is constituted by the metallic net 18 supported in the vessel by supporting means 20, 21, and the resin in the dilute resin slurry supplied into the vessel is held on the metallic net 18, whereby a resin precoating layer 19 is formed.
