Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition, capable of giving a film having improved rust preventing property and removable by washing with water readily, and prepared by adding an oxyacid salt and a metallic oxide to a resin composition of a specific water-soluble resin and a resin soluble in a nonaqueous solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A composition prepared by adding (B) an oxyacid salt, e.g. condensed aluminum phosphate, and/or a metallic oxide, e.g. molybdenum trioxide, to (A) a resin composition comprising (a) 99W40pts.wt. a water-soluble polyvinyl acetal resin, e.g. S-Lec W(trade name, manufactured by Sekisui Kagaku Kogyo KK) and (b) 1W60pts.wt. a polyvinyl acetal resin soluble in a nonaqueous solvent, e.g. polyvinyl butyral resin, and/or polyvinyl alcohol resin (PVA) soluble in a nonaqueous soluvent. The PVA in (b) preferably has a saponification degree ≤70 mol% and a molecular weight ≤1,500. The polyvinyl acetal resin in (b) preferably has an average polymerization degree of 250W2,000 and an acetalization degree of 57W75mol%.
USE: Coating of a metal, particularly a steel material or product.
