Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve disintegration of a mold and improve working efficiency by using a binder for cast iron consisting of organic solvent solution added unsaturated polyester to phenolic resin and organic solvent solution of polyisocyanate having more than 2 isocyanate radicals.
CONSTITUTION: Resin obtained by mixing and stirring phenolic resin with the specific quantity of unsaturated polyester while heating is disolved in an organic solvent, such as acetone, isophorone, etc. This solution is mixed with liquid form polyisocyanate having more than 2 isocyanate radicals or organic solvent solution of polyisocyanate, and this mixture is used as a binder for a mold. The binder is added to silica sand at the specified ratio stirring with a mixing device. Then, the binder is coated to the surfaces of silica sand particles equally. Making this sand as coating sand, it is blown and filled into a core box and so on. Next, a gas of tertiary amine is permeated to make hardening, and a mold is formed.
