Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a picture data coding system that can perform various kinds of Boolean operation processing between distribution charts of different kinds of pieces of information with efficiency, by superposing information distribution charts on a map and then by coding them at a time.
CONSTITUTION: Distribution charts, such as administration district chart 100, relative-population-density distribution chart 200, sea-level distribution chart 300 and school district distribution chart 400, are divided by many lattice points 501 and stored in an attribute table showing attributes on respective distribution charts that correspond to the coordinates. At the time, superposed-picture data are stored which show whether a boundary on each distribution chart reside at positions that correspond to the lattice-point coordinates. In the case mentioned above, the superposed-picture data require only four bits for every lattice point. This invention facilitates and quickens the Boolean operation processing as to superposed picture data by use of the attribute table and superposed-picture data.
