Abstract

PURPOSE: An agricultural film with excellent heat retaining property and transparency, suitable for a green house, house culture and tunnel culture, which is prepared by forming a thermoplastic resin and powdered mica into a film.
CONSTITUTION: An agriculatural fim is obtd. by forming a composition consisting of 100pts.wt. thermoplastic resin (e.g., PVC or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin) and 1W150pts.wt. powdered mica (of average particle size about 20W2,000μ, obtd, by mechanically crushing natural mica) into a film. Since a film mixed with mica selectively reduces transmission of 1R of wave length about 10μ radiated from a body at 0W50°C, it is excellent in heat retaining property and lowering of its transparency is kept to a minimum. A film mixed with a large amt. of mica can proctect crops from dew by merely covering them at night because of its large IR barrier performance.
