Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the fuel efficiency of a hybrid vehicle by controlling an internal combustion engine and two motors so that the internal combustion engine is operated in a range where the fuel consumption efficiency is good. CONSTITUTION:When a required torque is within a range that the fuel consumption efficiency of an internal combustion engine 1 is better, the engine 1 is so controlled as to produce the required torque. When the required torque is less than the lower limit of the allowable operation range, the engine 1 is operated at the lower limit torque, and the excessive torque is absorbed by operating the motors 5, 7 are generators. When the required torque is higher than the upper limit, the engine 1 is operated at the upper limit torque, and insufficient torque is supplemented by the motors 5, 7. When the rotating speed of the output shaft is out of the range where the engine 1 is operable, the required torque is obtained by the motors 5, 7.
