Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a device which records a color picture of good-quality in a short time with simple constitution, by selecting color bands of an ink ribbon successively for every scanning of the recording head and by recording one-line components of a picture element by scanning plural times. CONSTITUTION:Recording head 1 which is scanned in the direction perpendicular to feeding direction 7a of recording paper 7, ink ribbon 6 consisting of plural color bands separated in paper feeding direction 7a, selecting devices 8-10 for these color bands, the data supply device, the recording head driving device, and so on are provided. For example, three primary color signals of the light for the color video from the VTR or the like are converted to three primary color signals of paint and stored in the memory device, and they are read out, and eight recording wires 2a of recording head 1 are driven selectively. Color bands 6M, 6Y and 6C of magenta, yellow and cyanine are selected for every scanning by the vertical movement of guide wheel 8 due to selective power supply to plungers 9 and 10, and the color picture of eight-line components of picture elements is recorded by scanning three times.
