Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a control system for controlling spacing between articles carried along transport line, which comprises a plurality of short, variable-speed conveyors disposed at a portion between transport conveyors for transporting each article at different speeds and thereby controlling the spacing between respective articles to be transported.
CONSTITUTION: At a portion of transport line consisting of transport conveyors 12, 13 and 19, there are provided a plurality of short, variable-speed conveyors 14W18, sizes of which are substantially equal to those of articles or produces 21 in the direction in which they are transported. Spacing between adjacent two products 21 is controlled by controlling the speed of conveyors 14W18 independently by speed controlling means 23 and the spacing is detected by a detecting means disposed at the front of conveyors 14W18. On the basis of signal afforded from the detecting means, speed of conveyors is controlled such that their speed is the required value at the extreme end portion of conveyors 14W18.
