Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent typewriting paper from being stained, by holding ribbon guide members away from the typewriting surface of a platen while a ribbon cassette is not loaded, and close to the mentioned surface while the ribbon cassette is loaded.
CONSTITUTION: While a ribbon cassette 8 is not loaded, a mount portion 34a of an actuator member 34 is in engagement with the lower surface of a bottom wall 7b of a cassette holder 7. An engagement portion 34c of the actuator member 34 is in a diagonally upper position, and a pair of ribbon guide members 24 are in positions away from the typewriting surface of a platen 1. Accordingly, a wide space is formed between the typewriting surface of the platen 1 and the ends of the ribbon guide members 24. In order to load the cassette 8, a ribbon 8a is laid at its one end on an end portion of the guide members 24, and a locking pin 10 for the cassette 8 is brought into engagement with a recess 9. At the same time, a guide pin is brought into engagement with a cam portion of a stopper member 13. As a result, a space similar to the one referred to above is formed between the typewriting surface of the platen 1 and the end portions of the guide members 24.
