Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent curved cutting of a work with a horizontal band sawing machine designed for large-sized works such as ingot and cast product, by controlling oscillation of a band saw blade with the blade rest.
CONSTITUTION: A work table 3 for holding a work W is set at the center of a base 1 which is also equipped with a work retainer 5 and an elevating saw blade housing 9 with a band saw blade 7 for cutting the work W. The table 3 is mainly composed of a traversible bed 13 supported on a guide rail 11 on the base 1. The work retainer 5 is composed of a reference stock vice 29 and movable vice 31. A blade rest 95 touches the back of blade 7 stretched vertically while being twisted to prevent oscillation of the blade 7 and curved cutting.
