Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a stable disperse system for a long term du to the steric hindrance effect of an adsorption layer, by dissolving various synthetic resins in a dispersion medium to allow them to be adsorb into the surfaces of electrophoretic particles.
CONSTITUTION: In the electrophoretic display device in which a solid-liquid disperse system is interposed between 2 base plates provided with electrodes, an acrylic resin, a polyurethane resin, or the like are added to the dispersion medium of the disperse system and dissolved to form a thick adsorbed resin layer on each surface of the particle. Use of this disperse system as a display panel permits uneven display due to irreversible attachment, coagulation, precipitation, et., deterioration of contrast, and the like unfavorable phenomena to be prevented by the effect of steric hindrance of the adsorption layer.
