Abstract

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for safely and quickly stopping ammoxidation without reducing catalytic activity or the acrylonitrile yield in the case of stopping ammoxidation of propane. Provided is a method for stopping ammoxidation the method comprising a feeding cut off step for cutting off the propane oxygen containing gas and ammonia being fed to a reactor in which catalytic ammoxidation of propane is being carried out and a reaction stopping step for feeding to the reactor an inert gas in an amount per hour that is 10 30 times the catalyst volume until the catalyst temperature becomes 380ºC or less. After the cut off step the time required to lower the catalyst temperature to 360ºC or lower is 10 hours or less.
