Abstract

he present invention is reffered to a method of manufacturing a biological cigarette filter contained esters of carboxy-metallo-porphyrins such as chlorophyllin (coppered), hemin, etc., with bioflavoids and sugars for the retension of nicotine and its conversion into vitamin B3. Furthermore, for thw retension and the neutralization of toxic substances, like oxygen free radicals (superoxide, hydroxyl radicals, hydrogen peroxide, alkoxyl radicas, peroxy radicals etc.), nitrogen free radicals (nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, peroxynitrite), toxic gasses like, ammonia, etc., dioxins,polychlorinated byphenyls (PCBs), benzopyrenes. zBoth chlorophylin and hemin esterified with sugars are antioxidants acting as scavengers of free radicals. In thepresence of hemin in the biological filter, nicotine as a base forms pyridinochromes and part of nicotine is converted into vitamin B3 (niacin) due to its N-oxidation in the presence of hemin. In parallel, in the acid environment created by hemin in the biological filter, the slightly alkaline gasses like ammonia, are neutralized. Moreover, the neutralization of nitric oxide and peroxynitrite by the sugars, inhibits the formation of alcoxyl radical which are responsible for the development of emphysema.
