Abstract

944,565. Cartons. REED CORRUGATED CASES Ltd. Sept. 5, 1962 [June 8, 1961], No. 20803/61. Heading B8P. In a box or protective carton for a jerrican of the type described in Specification 904,470, made from a blank as in Fig. 1, there is a top flap 6 hingedly connected to the front wall 4 of the box with an aperture 10 fitting over the spout 11 of the jerrican and an extension 13 extending over the top of the jerrican and being joined by adhesive tape to the rear top flap 14. Flaps 15, connected to the front wall 4 either side of the flap 6 and extensions 17, 18 and 19 joined to the side wall top flaps 16, fold, as in Fig. 5, to form buttresses on either side of the spout 11. A slit 21 is provided in the blank through which a cardboard handle 22 protrudes. A liner 23, made from a blank, Fig. 2 (not shown), comprises main wall portions, a flap 29 with an aperture 30 fitting over the pouring spout 11 and flaps 33, 32, 31 and 34 which close the top of the liner as shown in Fig. 3. In another embodiment, further flaps 36 connected to flaps 18 are provided to strengthen the buttresses and a handle 37 is made integral with the blank. In the liner, the side wall top flaps 33 are formed with buttress strengthening parts. Specification 921,148 also is referred to.
