Abstract

A sanitary napkin comprises an absorbent pad and a non-woven fabric wrapper having a fibrous content consisting solely of a mixture of non-absorbent and absorbent fibres. The wrapper comprises four plies of a non-woven web consisting of absorbent rayon fibres and a fifth outermost ply of a non-woven web consisting of a mixture of absorbent cotton fibres and non-absorbent cotton fibres which contain their natural oils, waxes, &c. Preferably, the outer layer comprises 12 1/2 % to 25% of non-absorbent fibres. Alternatively, the non-absorbent fibres used may be absorbent fibres treated to render them non-absorbent. The plies may be bonded together by adhesive.
