Flexible films of polyamides or non-vinyl polyester resins, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, are bonded together under heat and pressure by the use between them of an open plain-weave fabric and a heat-activatable adhesive such as polyvinyl chloride paste. The fabric preferably has a mesh size between 4 and 30 X 10-<SP>4</SP> sq. in., and may be of cotton, linen, wool, rayon, or synthetic fibres; examples are cheese cloth and butter muslin. The fabric may be coated with adhesive and sorted until required. The films used may be drawn longitudinally or both longitudinally and, preferably to a lesser extent, laterally, may be roughened, e.g. by sand blasting, before bonding, and may be precoated with a polyisocyanate such as triphenyl methane triisocyanate or naphthalene 1,5-diisocyanate in a solvent, such as methyl ethyl ketone subsequently removed. The products may be incorporated in printers' blankets, valve diaphragms, or power-transmission or conveyer belting, the latter comprising multiple layers of alternate composite film and fabric and having rubber, polyvinyl chloride or other outer layers secured with P.V.C. paste.
