Abstract

A composition for the care and protection of the skin contains a pentose such as arabinose, xylose or ribose and an amino acid such as arginine, lysine, alanine, glycine, or histidine, the weight ratio of pentose to amino acid being up to 5:1 and preferably equimolecular. The composition may be in the form of a solution or a dry mixture and may contain esters of p. hydroxybenzoate, methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl-cellulose, tragacanth.
